Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
YA-- Fuchs has done an effective job of driving home the human side of Hitler while relaying his malicious and self-centered personality. There are stories about Hitler's mustache, practical jokes, paying of personal income taxes, diet, wardrobe, religious beliefs, and other high German officials. The text is well written with a chronology and an extensive bibliography. Eight pages of black-and-white photographs reinforce some of the points made in the text. A book that gives a seldom-seen slant on Hitler's life, revealing him as an evil politician while showing his personal life through anecdotes.-- Susan Penny, St. Cecilia School, Houston
A serious and useful work, but unfortunately disguised as mere anecdote and arranged most trivially by topic (e.g. Hitler The Hypochondriac; Hitler at The Movies). The real point is to reveal Hitler as his own self-conscious and demagogic creation rather than as a revealed super-human or charismatic. The man Hitler

In The Hitler Fact Book by Thomas Fuchs there were many major events.I couldnt believe all of the cruel and unbelievable things Hitler did in his day.I believe Hitler was a man of intelegance but used his intelegance in all the wrong ways.It suprises me how much he discriminated against jews.I was always so curios why he had so much hatrid towards them.I was suprised to find out Hitler thought the jews had caused Germany ro lose the war and they were responsible for the 'stab in the back.'I found out why so many people went along with his ideas. He would have longs speaches lasting over hours .He was brainwashing the Germans.I think speaches are great ides but not when people are in danger. It hurt to find out how many jews died and how they died. How can you torture inocent people.I couldn't believ that he would put the jews in a gas chamber and hear them scream for their lives.I never knew someone so cruel .I can't imagine that he was ok with all the murders he commit.I was literally shocked when i found out that in 1935 Germany passed a law for discrimination against jews. There were many characters through out the story.Hitler was the main man in this story.I really di't like the role he played. The Natzis played a vile role as well. They were right behind his cruel and unjust ways. Then obcorse the jews played a big role in the begining but ended up small because most of them ended up dead. Its hard to believe this all happened about 70 years ago. I actually enjoyed the authors way of writing. He got straight to the point.I feel as if I actually knew Hitler.(Not that i would have wanted to.)What I didnt like way his horrible ways of doing things. He took away the lives of inocent people.People he didnt even know or care to find out to know.I think everyone desirves their own independance and equal rights. Not everyone will be the same, then life would be boring.I think Hitler was ignorate not to see that. Other than that all the bad things he has done I will give him credit. I think if only he had based his ideas on the positive and not the negitive he would have nbeen an excellent President. He proved his points when he spoke and he was an excellent speaker. He also had many admires.Too bad his ideas were focused on evil. I really would recmend this book to all the Hitler fans out there or anyone interested in the holocaust. This book had alot of usefull information and it keeps you reading for more.I knew i couldn't keep this book down for one minute.I hope you will pick up this nifty book in your spare time.
