Claudia falls in love with a hobo named Joe during the deepening depression era of the 1930's. Joe had just gotten off a freight train and was standing at the back door of the restaurant where she worked to bum a meal. Joe's birth name was Will Lucas, named after his father, the late son of Wisp Lucas, a multi-millionaire. His mother became suspicious his grandfather might take her son away from her. One week after Will’s fifth birthday, they both disappeared. Two years later, Will was placed in an orphanage where he became known as Will Durham until he ran away at fifteen, then just plain Joe (later Hobo Joe) to hinder the authorities search. Unbeknownst to Hobo Joe, his grandfather had hired special detectives from the day he disappeared with given orders to find his only heir come-hell-or-high water.

Author Biography: Author Lee Ross Bailey has moved around some acquiring knowledge from NATURE, the SUPERB, and the HUMBLE. Lee was born July 3rd, 1917 in Glendive, Montana, reared in Iowa and later lived in Oregon and Utah. He now lives in Corona, California with his wife, LaVonne. Telling was a motivating factor when he writes his stories, like "Rusty", a dog story which he published. "It’s Mary Ann’s Range" was recently published. These stories create the desire to make up for those lost years of writing time with other stories he has written, too.
