Excerpt from Hockey Player For Life
Do you remember the first time you pulled on skates, better yet the first time you played ice hockey on skates. Tell me you don't remember cold nights in the school yard, whether it was on ice or just running around chasing a ball with your buddies and knowing time was drawing near as the street lights were getting ready to turn on. I am often asked how difficult was it when I was no longer able to play hockey at the highest level and my response quite simply is; I miss playing the game but as long as I am around the game in some capacity I am happy and content.
Why? Well, wasn't the reason you played growing up because you just loved the game. Being with friends and family, playing in tournaments or in the backyard. It always comes back to the memories that were created a long time ago and the desire to not only carry them on for yourself, but for your children as well.
Thank you Howard for bringing the game back to a place where we find the true meaning and sense of what the game of hockey has provided for all of us. An inner joy and comfort that can never be replaced or forgotten.
