Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Bruce Adelson
If your young child is a hockey fan, this book should not be ignored. Profiled here are four of hockey's biggest contemporary stars, Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Patrick Roy and Eric Lindros. The career of each player, including some signature moments in each one's National Hockey League tenure and their boyhood introductions to skates, ice and hockey, are provided. One of the more ingratiating tales is how Mario Lemieux learned to skate on the hall carpet in his boyhood home that his father packed with snow for this very purpose. This title is part of the "All Aboard Reading" series that includes books about sports and other non-fiction topics. Although there is repetition in each star's biography, i.e., that each always wanted to play pro hockey and each works very hard, this will not bother your hockey-crazed child. This book is a good vehicle to encourage the young hockey fan in your house to read a book.
