    A detailed factual history

    To understand the "science" behind the "Hockey Stick", one needs a basic knowledge about statistics, which the author presents in a simple, easy to understand manner before tackling the details behind this important IPCC poster child. The chronological account details the efforts of Steve McIntyre and Ross McKitrick as they attempt to unravel the "scientific mysteries" surrounding the origin of the "Hockey Stick". Verbatim e-mails and pertinent excepts from scientific papers support a narrative that is written much in the manner of a scientific detective as he (they) attempts to solve data and statistical riddles posed by the deceptive Hockey Team Leader, Michael Mann. The account also delves into the dishonest tactics employed by IPCC Authors to shore up the faulty methodology used to construct the "Hockey Stick". The book was written before Climategate exploded on the Internet, so a final chapter was hastily assembled at the end of the book, since the details exposed by Climategate provided supporting evidence for the conclusions of McIntyre and McKitrick.
    I found the book riveting and read it in 4 days. I was so impressed with the details presented in the book that I purchased a second copy and sent it to my son, a meteorologist, for his birthday.
