Overview

Taken by Surprise, Nina Quinn’s landscaping firm specializing in surprise garden makeovers, is the only thing in her life that seems to be thriving. Her marriage to adulterous police detective Kevin Quinn has wilted. Her antisocial stepson Riley is spreading trouble like pungent manure. Even her gardening tools are disappearing, including a rather valuable set of hoes. Worst of all, the delightful old man who first introduced her to the joys of horticulture is dead—and not by natural causes. Something evil has taken root in Nina’s small Ohio town, and the local police—including dearly unbeloved Kev—are baffled. But it’s amazing what a resourceful gardener can dig up when she puts her mind to it—though, by sticking her hands too deeply into this fetid, fertile soil, Nina might well end up planted beneath her own petunias.

This is a good book. A little predictable in spots, but kept me interested until the end. I will be reading more in the series.

I'm a big fan of Heather Webber's Lucy Valentine series and figured I should try this one too. I really enjoyed this book! It's really a good mystery with great characters that you'll want to know more about! This is not your typical "heroine wins the hero in the end" book....though she does solve the mystery! I'm looking forward to reading more in the Nina Quinn series.

A great quick read, didn't figure out who-done-it till the very end, which is always nice. Looking forward to the others in the series.

Not my favorite. But it was okay. VERY short and a fast read. I plan on reading the other books in this series because I don't have anything else to read right now.

Once again, Heather Webber (Blake) has brought her talent of creating characters that you love and created a great story surrounding them. Nina Quinn is a landscaper in Cincinnati and the man who taught her to love gardening is murdered. Nina is nosy, so she has to solve the mystery and discover who murdered him. I highly recommend this whole series. Once you start reading them, you won't want to put these books down.

It's taken me awhile to get to this series and I wish I had started sooner. I loved this story. Nina is a down to earth woman struggling with a broken marriage, a stepson, business and murder. The comments she makes to herself had me howling, definitely my sense of humor. The other characters in this book are likeable and believable. I love her relationship with her cousin, and the nosy neighbor is similar to one in the neighborhood where I grew up. The murder kept me guessing and the side stories kept things moving. Definitely continuing on with this series.
