Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Dr. Judy Rowen
As the subtitle notes, this is an anthology of African-American songs, poems, and stories for the holidays. Like most anthologies, it is somewhat hit-or-miss. Some selections left me cold, whereas others were so touching they brought tears to my eyes, or made me laugh. The illustrations are from a variety of artists as well, so there is no continuing theme or structure. Despite this caveat, the book would serve as a useful source in planning Christmas programs and is reasonably priced for home use.
