Meet the Author

Jaci Burton is a bestselling, award winning author who lives in Oklahoma and spends a fair amount of time on the back of her husband's Harley, where she often gets lost plotting her next story as the warm (and sometimes cold) breeze whips her face. She loves reality television, is a sucker for romantic comedies, and completely loses track of time when reading a great book. She's a total romantic and longs for the happily ever after in every story, which you'll find in all her books.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Shannon Stacey lives with her husband and two sons in New England, where her two favorite activities are writing stories of happily ever after and off-roading with her friends and family. You can contact Shannon through her website,, as well as sign up for her newsletter.

Award-winning author HelenKay Dimon spent twelve years in the most unromantic career ever - divorce lawyer. After dedicating all of that effort to helping people terminate relationships, she is thrilled to deal in happy endings and write romance novels for a living.  Her books have been featured in Cosmopolitan Magazine and E! Online.  HelenKay loves hearing from readers, so stop by her website at and say hello.

Alison was 30 when she knew she wanted to be a writer when she grew up. Not long after, she accepted an offer from an editor at Harlequin. If there’s a better career than romance writing to be had, she doesn’t want to know about it, as penning lusty tales from her backyard is the best way she's found to convince her pack of rescue dogs they have her full attention.

An astoundingly good anthology. I reviewed each novella separately, but they were all incredibly good! This Time Next Year: My Review: Rating: A+ I really loved this book. This is honestly my ideal in a holiday story...a snowstorm, a damsel in distress, a heroic taciturn sexy hero. Brenna is on the cusp of a new life and is coming to spend one final Christmas with her grandmother in the mountains of NC before she goes to live and work in Malawi as a nurse. Things go awry when the snowstorm moves in 10 hours earlier than predicted and a deer gets in her way on the road. Dillon is a doctor who lives on the same mountain as Brenna's grandmother. Since returning from Afghanistan, he is living the life of a country doctor, treating the locals on the mountain and maintaining a fairly reclusive life. He has demons that remain from his military time and the choices that he had to make as a trauma doctor in a war zone. When Dillon finds Brenna in her wrecked car, after finishing up his mountain house calls, he takes her home with him where they become stranded for three days. I loved both Dillon and Brenna's characters. Dillon is definitely scarred emotionally and Brenna recognizes that and respects that. There could have been a super-easy conclusion to this book, but I like that Alison Kent didn't go that route. She wrote a beautiful love story which became even more believable because of the way that she took this wonderful story! Just a perfect holiday, snuggle up in front of the fireplace and read, kind of story! LOVED IT! A Rare Gift: My Review: Rating: B Overall, this was a fun little read. I had some personal issues with Wyatt just because I felt like he hung onto his bitterness over his failed marriage for entirely too long...(PS. Calliope agreed with me.) I absolutely adored Calliope's character and how ballsy she is! She is awesome!! Here is just the perfect taste of what I am talking about: "I can't believe a big tough guy like you is afraid of a little think like me, Wyatt." Then she stepped back, her gaze traveling halfway down and staring at the part of him she had no business staring at. When she lifted her gaze again, she grinned. "I know you have balls in there. Why don't you try to find them? When you do, it's your turn to come ask me out." I love her character. It takes a pretty self-confident girl to go after her sister's ex-husband and Calliope owns that she is that girl...never apologizing for it especially in light of the fact that she knows that Wyatt needs to get past her sister Cassie. This was just a really enjoyable book. It's Not Christmas Without You My Review: Rating: A This is a really powerful story for a novella. There is no doubt in this book that Austin and Carrie love each other, but Carrie also has big dreams for her career and she doesn't want to sacrifice that for her love for Austin. She watched her mom become embittered and angry because she gave up her career for her family. She loves Austin enough that she doesn't want that for either of them. The problem...she does still love him and denying him is killing her. See, it's powerful. So much emotion in this book. Both for Carrie and Austin who are dealing with huge amounts of heartache. It all takes place on a Christmas tree lot which adds a certain air of Christmas magic to the book which I loved. I really liked the way that this novella was laid out. Both of these people have scars because of

My rating: 4 of 5 ¿¿ This Time Next Year by Alison Kent Surprised by a snowstorm and wrecked on the side of a mountain, Brenna Keating, finds herself rescued by what appears to be a large cowboy on a horse. She doesn't remember much more until she wakes up in a cabin with a blazing future going and said cowboy cooking stew.  His name is Dillon Craig, veteran and doctor to the local mountain folk, and not used to sharing his space. But with the storm raging outside, there is no way either of them will be going anywhere despite Brenna's eagerness to get to her Gran's for Christmas. Close proximity and an undeniable chemistry ensures that the next few days are spent exploring each other inside and out, breaking down barriers and defenses in their wake. ¿Heartwarming, moving and sensual!¿ ***** A Rare Gift by Jaci Burton Calliope had a crush on Wyatt for years, even back when he was still married to her older sister. A straightforward and upbeat daycare owner, Calliope hoped to capitalize on the fact that Wyatt was going to be around doing some necessary renovations at her daycare centre.  By the looks of things, Wyatt is not going to make things easy. Still bitter and surly after his nasty divorce, he has never quite moved on, and certainly isn't planning to with his ex-wife's sister! But what he didn't count on was her determination or his own inability to resist her delicious appeal!! In her adorable, bulldozer manner, Calliope manages to eventually show Wyatt the error of his ways by showing him some loving and relieving him of his anger...... Cutest quote ever...... “Oh, for the love of chocolate chip cookies. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.” ¿Quirky, animated and sizzling hot.¿ ***** It's Not Christmas Without You by HelenKay Dimon Carrie had run to D.C. leaving behind her on again, off again boyfriend of years to chase her dream. Exploring her own path in life was important to her and she felt she had to be away from home to do it. Six months, Austin had waited, but when Carrie still hadn't returned home, he decided to travel after her and convince her to come back.  Except that isn't quite how things turned out. Despite the feelings between them still being as strong as ever, Carrie and Austin struggle to understand the other's position. It takes a slight twist of perspective to show them they can both have what they want. ¿Endearing, romantic and very, very sexy!¿ ***** Mistletoe and Margaritas by Shannon Stacey Justin had been in love with his best friend, Claire, from the time they met. Except Claire was also his deceased best friend's widow.'s complicated. Given a choice, Justin would rather keep his friendship with her safe, than risk losing it over sex, however tempting that might be. If not for Justin, Claire would never have survived the initial devastation after her husband died. He was the best of friends, although recently she was starting to have some serious fantasies featuring him. A little unsettling, but she feels ready to move  on with her life and Justin is right there, and.........perfect. As it turns out, Claire is not the only one who needed to come to terms with her loss, someone else is threatening to let it stand in the way of happiness as well. ¿Such bitter-sweet but spicy fare!¿ ***** **ARC courtesy of NetGalley and Carina Press in return for an honest review.**

I honestly am having trouble saying where this book went wrong for me. Again I think that it may have been timing...or perhaps there just isn't enough time in a short story for a character to be developed enough for my liking! I also found that again, the stories were not all Christmas related which disappointed me...and I found some of the characters annoying as well. Honestly though, I'd be tempted to give this one another shot as I have a feeling that my DNF conclusion may have really been a true case of "It's not you, it's me!"

Reviewed By~Patti Review Copy Provided By~NetGalley This Time Next Year – I really enjoyed this story right from the beginning I was routing for Dillon. He was such a sweet man I really wanted him to find love and happiness. The Grandma side story was wonderful too. It really touched memories of my own Grandma and that pulled me in on such a personal level that it was even more important that they get together. The story was believable with just enough magic. The characters were likable and human. I do have to say that you don’t know whether or not they will make it long term until the very end. A Rare Gift – This was also a great story with wonderful characters. I was so attached to Wyatt I wanted to slap the woman who hurt him in the past and made him so apprehensive about letting someone else get close. Calliope is a great woman with just enough stubborn in her to fight for what she wants. The dynamics were great. The sister thing made it a little odd but it was a new twist that was handled quite well. It’s Not Christmas Without You – This story was a bit more difficult for me. The stubborn went on a little too long for me but in the end it did make sense. Both of the characters had some secrets and insecurities to work out before they could finally be honest with themselves and each other. I did like the idea of the man chasing the woman but he was still a little too caveman for me at least in how he acted and things he said. I love that they are longtime sweethearts who do know each other so well that they are pretty accurate in which buttons they push. Mistletoe and Margaritas – This one was quite a surprise. I really felt bad for Justin he was struggling so hard to do the right thing. Claire was not in a great position either but she at least was only dealing with current feelings and not having to struggle with feeling guilty about the past. It was a wonderful tale of friendship and family of loss and of hope. After reading all four stories I would definitely say that this is a book I will be recommending to others and I will most definitely read it again. All of the women are strong and independent and the men are up to the challenge.

Since it was the holidays, I started reading different holiday romances. I didn't really know that to expect with this book. I just basically wanted something to read during my long trip. I fell in love with Jaci Burton's A Rare Gift. I love the characters. This is actually the second book of the Kent Brothers Series. The first is All She Wants For Christmas. I recommend that book also. This Time Next Year is a really sweet book. I will admit, that I almost cried. It's Not Christmas Without You and Mistletoe and Margaritas were okay. They weren't really books that I would remember reading off the top of my head.

This Time Next Year by Alison Kent ¿ 4 stars I really enjoyed this story story about two very different people who find each other during the holidays . Dillon¿s a true hero, a doctor who spent a good deal of time healing people during the war in Afghan. Retired now, he continues taking care of the people on his mountain, which is how he finds Brenna after her car crashes in the snow. Dillon still has a lot of guilt over what happened and what he saw in the war and has closed himself off emotionally. Brenna¿s funny and compassionate and, as the week goes on, she gets Dillon to open up about himself. With her help, Dillon begins to realize that he needs to stop blaming himself for the decisions he made and the people he couldn¿t save. Only then can he get over the guilt and move on with his life. An endearing and touching romance that had me sighing at the ending, This Time Next Year was a great read. A Rare Gift by Jaci Burton ¿ 3 stars I am usually a fan of Jaci Burton but this one didn¿t have quite the impact that her stories usually have for me. I liked Calliope a lot. She¿s strong and independent and I loved watching her interact with the children at the day care center. Wyatt¿s extremely closed off emotionally which isn¿t unusual for males in romance novels but, in this case, Calliope¿s relationship as his ex¿s sister has made him even more wary of pursuing a relationship with her. Wyatt was also extremely stubborn and I wanted to smack him in the head several times. I am sure Calliope felt the same way. When they finally to succumb to their attraction, it¿s hot like only Jaci Burton can write it. Though ultimately satifying, this story just wasn¿t as compelling as what I usually expect from Burton. It¿s Not Christmas Without You by HelenKay Dimon ¿ 4 stars This is probably my favorite story in the anthology. Funny, sweet and totally endearing, I fell in love with both Austin and Carrie in this holiday tale about two people finding each other again. Austin is adorable as the (ex)boyfriend with a plan to woo Carrie back to their hometown. I loved his flirty and unapolgetic attitude and he had my laughing with his attempts to win Carrie back. I loved that Carrie didn¿t give in to Austin right away and that she fought for her dreams and her career. There are no easy answers but Carrie and Austin work to understand each other in order to have a future together. A story about hope, understanding, and a love worth fighting for, It¿s Not Christmas Without You is a wonderful story for the holidays. Mistletoe & Margaritas by Shannon Stacey ¿ 4 stars This is my first Shannon Stacey story but it definitely won¿t be my last. Mistletoe & Margaritas is fantastic story about love and second chances. Justin¿s been in love with Claire for years but kept silent because she fell in love and married his best friend Brandon. A widow of several years now, Claire still misses her husband but finds comfort in her friendship with Justin. Suddenly Claire finds her feelings for Justin veering towards a more romantic nature. I loved watching their relationship at the beginning of the story ¿ the pizza dates and holiday traditions. It¿s obvious that they both love each other but they have to deal with the guilt they have about Brandon and moving on. This emotional story about two best friends falling in love really pulled at my heartstrings and I was really rooting for Claire and Justin to find their happily ever after.

Not Only does the Holiday Kisses Collection have four Amazing Authors introducing Four heartwarming Christmas Novellas, but I can't decide which one I like the best! They all touched my heart in a different way and I really LOVE all of the Amazing Characters that we meet. Alison Kent brings us This Time Next Year, with Brenna Keating spending a last few days with her Gran before she heads to Ethiopia for volunteer work as a nurse, when a horrible snow storm has her car skidding off the road. She is rescued by a handsome man on a horse, Dr, Dillon Craig, who takes her back to his place to get her out of the cold. Dillon, a neighbor of her Grans, takes an instant liking to Alison, and the sparks start flying. But Alison can't stay, she has obligations 8,000 miles away. What happens in this story will touch your heart and squeeze until the very last page. Dillon steals your heart and you know exactly how hard it would be for you to leave him too!! A Rare Gift by Jaci Burton, takes us back to one of our Favorite brothers, Cranky Wyatt Kent. We meet Wyatt again at the Day Care run by his Ex-Wife's younger sister, Calliope Andrews, where Wyatt is giving her an estimate for the extension she is having put on the Center. What Wyatt doesn't expect is to be attracted to the woman Calliope has turned into, she is beautiful and her smile lights up the room. Wyatt tries his hardest not to give into the attraction he feels for he, but she is not making it easy on him. Calliope has loved Wyatt for years and it is time he finally realized that she might be exactly what he always wanted. Calliope was so likeable from the start, but I liked her more and more every page I read. She was strong, honest and she demanded the truth. Wyatt needed someone who looked at life from the same window he saw through, and Calliope was it, it just took him a little longer to figure it out!! Love these two, and Can't wait for Tori and Brody's Book....Oh boy it will be a steamer!! It's Not Christmas Without You by HelenKay Dimon had me smiling from page one. Austin Thomas found out his on again, off again love of his life wasn't coming home to Holloway, West Virginia for Christmas this year, so he took Christmas to her in D.C. Carrie Anders has no defense against her feelings when it comes to Austin, but she can't forget that he let her go six months ago without a backward glance. Austin is determined to show Carrie what she means to him, and he won't leave until she agrees to come back home with him, but Carrie loves her new career. Will his love be enough for her to come home? HelenKay does an amazing job with this Novella and I LOVED Austin, his determination, his Smile and knowing that he was so in love with her that he would let her go if that was what she really wanted. We have a heart pincher with this one! Shannon Stacey gives us Mistletoe and Margaritas, which both things are the reason that Claire Rutledge and Yummy Justin McCormick get into trouble in the first place. Claire has relied on Justin as her best friend since her husband passed away two years ago. Justin has been in love with Claire for as long as he has known her, but after she lost her husband, who had also been Justin's Best Friend, he knew she needed him for a shoulder to cry on and nothing more. Things heat up one night and things get complicated, but before they lose each other for good, someone unexpected has a few words of wisdom for them both. This one was a great sto
