The cookbook tells of life in a small town throughout the seasons of Northern Michigan in a series of letters between Mrs. Chard, who owned the farm stand, and the author of the book. You feel as if you are there with her the entire time you are reading, transported to the U.P. The recipes inside are old fashioned recipes and although you don’t have to try any recipes to enjoy the book, I do hope to make some. This book is such a treat and I gave it five stars on Goodreads!

This was given to me 17 years ago for a wedding shower and it is still the cookbook I turn to for a delicious recipe that everyone in the family will love. Every recipe I have tried has been great! I think everyone needs a copy of this cookbook, you won't be disappointed.

A delightful cookbook with a unique twist and helpful, interesting notes. I have tried most of the recipes and there is not a bad one in the bunch. A gift from a friend who was a former food editor for a major newspaper--she knew what she was giving me. This book is a treasure.
