HOLLYWOOD ASSASSIN: A Hollywood Alphabet Series Thriller

Things could be worse for LAPD Detective, Kate Sexton. Okay, so her ex-husband cheated on her and the DVD of his indiscretions made the rounds of the entire department, she's broke and living above an appliance store with her canine partner, Bernie, who is a sexual predator, her British friend, Natalie, has a vocabulary that would make Howard Stern blush, and her mother is hallucinating about having sex with a dead president.

But things could get worse, like Kate could be stalked by a sadistic serial killer while she tries to solve a thirty year-old murder and save the life and reputation of a cop wanted for the crime. Come to think of it, maybe things couldn't get any worse because this is Kate's life.

Can Kate elude the killer, solve the cold case, keep Bernie’s sexual wanderlust under control, keep her best friend out of trouble, save a cop from death row, and find love again? Only time, loads of trouble, and tons of laughs will tell. Hollywood Assassin has more twists and turns than a car chase down Sunset Strip with a Hollywood starlet at the wheel.

Hollywood Assassin is the first book in the Hollywood Alphabet Series. Other books include Hollywood Blood and Hollywood Crazy, with more to follow.

    great muder mystery

Plucky fun heroine with a K-9 partner and hilariously pervert minded friend solving murder cases. Aside from the occasional foul language, this novel grasps you from the beginning and is a page turner with twists and turns in the plot, never losing the reader.

    Thoroughly enjoyable

I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and well edited. It had humor, suspense and lots of attitude. I stayed up way too late in order to finish! Even though this is the first book in the series, the story does not have a cliff hanger ending. My biggest disappointment is that the next book is only available on Amazon at this time. I'm looking forward to continuing the series and hope to be able to purchase book 2 from B&N soon.

    Holy Smokeroonies!!

Good good good good good book! Didn't want to put it down! I was looking so forward to reading the next 2 books in the series but it seems B&N does not have them... Don't let that stop you from reading this book. It is stuffed full of great characters, lots of action and mystery, some interesting history of Hollywood, laugh out loud dialogue and a little romance too! Gotta find the next 2 books!!!

    Entertaining

The story line itself is good. Except for one of the characters (Natalie's) potty mouth, I enjoyed reading this book with all it's twist and turns. Good ending.

    Crazy Characters--Lots of Action

The main character of this book is a police detective with a K-9 partner. She lost her detective father years before, and her mother is a nut case who does horoscopes and has a face lift. She has hallucinations in which she is making love with long deceased ex-President, Richard Nixon. There is a very bad man who wants to kill all sorts of people, and the black dog gets injured twice in the course of the book. This would be for a crazy reader. I MIGHT read another book by this author, but I would not recommend this for book club discussion.

An entertaining read. You must try it!

298 pages of story. The characters are interesting, the story is good. And although there are horrible things happening, the descriptions are not so graphic that it throws you from the story. I would definately recommend this book. The ending wrapped up nicely, even surprising me. A few things i didn't see coming!

Hollywood Assassin is a jolly good gumshoe novel. Kate Sexton is detective in Hollywood and she seems to have a dark cloud that seems to follow her around in her personal and work life. She prevents her boss from shooting an unarmed suspect in the back and her life goes even further downhill from there. She’s under the microscope from Internal Affairs for improper actions in the line of duty. Kate is a clean cop and follows the leads of corruption in the hills of Hollywood.

Natalie a British tart, who has no filters decides she will help her friend Kate clear her name. Natalie wants to go into the Snooping Business and is learning as she stumbles along. One thing that Natalie might want to invest in first is driving lessons…

Hollywood Assassin reminds me of Michael Connelly’s Harry Bosch series, with a boost of humor. I truly enjoyed MZ’s writing style, pace and humor. There were no holes or dead spots in the novel. I can’t say enough about the humor, it truly made my day.

In the end, everything was just ducky. Kate solved the mystery and saved her job. Natalie has a new line of business she is going to pursue. I hope the two don’t grow apart in the next novel.
