Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kathleen Foucart
In this sequel to South Beach and French Kiss, best friends and almost-graduates Alexa and Holly are off on another trip, this time to L. A. for a fabulous celebrity wedding. At a party Alexa randomly runs into Margaux Eklundstrom, a hip, famous actress. She invites Alexa and a friend to her wedding on a whim, even calling up her little brother, heartthrob Jonah Eklundstrom, to make sure Alexa can stay in his guest house. The next day finds Alexa and Holly on a plane bound for L. A., but when a layover in Vegas turns into a potential day or more delay, the girls hitch a ride with Seamus, who is the requisite twenty-one years of age to rent a car. Once in L.A. the girls are given star treatment and are drinking champagne, going to rooftop pool parties, and shopping on Rodeo Drive—while a romance blooms between Alexa and Jonah. But is Jonah really what Alexa wants? Meanwhile, Holly is on her own journey of self-discovery—should she stay in New Jersey and go to Rutgers or take a risk and go to UCLA? And will the girls make it home in time for their high school graduation ceremony? The character of Holly is more likable than Alexa, and her story line is more engaging on a realistic level, especially for girls that are about to start looking for colleges or trying to choose the right one. Alexa's story, however, has more of the glamour and excitement that is expected from this kind of book. This is a story that will be read and enjoyed by fans of the first two books and other similar ones such as The It Girl and the "Private" series.

    Predictable but really good

I happened to have picked this book up on sale and at first I didn't realize that it was a continuation of Alexa and Holly's adventures. It was predictable in that the two girls jet away to some sun swept locale and get caught up in all sorts of drama. But it was unpredictable in the way Holly treats her time in California as a way to really decide if the safe route is the way she should go. The book was nice for me because I am a graduating senior this year and I am struggling with what college to accept and what to do with my life. Holly grew up a lot in this book and I am so glad to see that Alexa and Holly are still good friends and who knows, maybe there will be another book in the series. If you like romance, star filled weddings, and lots of boys, this is the book for you!!

    love this series

I liked the Holly and Tyler relationship but i have to agree with the author Tyler was and will always be Holly's first love but she has to move on and there relationship had to end. I love this book it would have been boring if Holly didn't have problem with Tyler. Hello they are going to to different school on different coast. Love the whole series and can't wait for the next book. I want to know what happen while there in college.

    Could have been better

i love Aimee Friedman's books! South Beach was awesome, and Frech Kiss was to die for! But with Hollywood Hills...I also felt that she didn't really have her heart into the whole story! Now don't get me wrong...it was a great book and it sounds like there will be another book coming...hopefully soon! But there could have been more romance...drama..or something to make it better. But this next book(hopefully) should make our heads spin!!

    It was different...

It was different b/ a lot of things happen that you don't expect. Well its really sad. I just hope Tyler and Holly make up some how, b/c Tyler is 'awesome'. I hope this isn't the last in the series.

    Disappointing

This book was really disappointing. I really liked that Holly and Tyler were together and I loved the first two books. Unfortunately for me, the author didn't feel the same way...unless there is gonna be another book that changes things. Usually I hate books with a ton of sequels and such, but I hope there is a next book to change my opinion.

If you really enjoyed South Beach and French Kiss you will absolutely love Hollywood Hills too. It was well written and kept you wanting more. It showed how the girls are growing apart but at the same time coming more closer. The relationships were more serious and shocking. It talks about two subjects you would think the girls would never turn too.
