Overview

Fresh off the bus from Indiana to Los Angeles, young metalheads Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin were fresh-faced kids when they started Hollywood Rose in 1983. Of course, within a few years the two would find themselves creating what would be remembered as some of the most visceral rock & roll of their era with Guns N' Roses, but the path to greatness was not without a lot of struggle and years of development. The Roots of Guns N' Roses is a strong document of those early years, presenting rough demos recorded in 1984, when the band was still in its larval stage as Hollywood Rose and before Slash, Duff McKagan, and Steven Adler would come in to solidify the classic G N' R lineup. The collection is composed of the original tunes from a raw five-song demo and two sets of remixes of the same songs, made years later.
