Children's Literature - Carlee Hallman
This book has pictures and directions for children to follow the worship service. Directions are given for sitting, standing, and bowing. The Nicene Creed is presented first followed by the Apostle's Creed, which is used in Canada. In the Eucharist, after "this is my body which will be given up for you," it says in red that "the bread becomes the Body of Christ. It still looks like bread. It still tastes like bread. But it really is the Body of Christ!" For the passing of the peace the direction says: "We wish the peace of Jesus to each other by shaking hands with the people near us." In the Communion direction it says: "To receive Communion, we need to have fasted for one hour. This means that we have not eaten or drunk anything except water one hour before Communion." Colored pictures show the priest holding up the bread and then the cup. People of various ethnic backgrounds stand or kneel in the pews. This handy book for children to carry will help them take part in the service. Reviewer: Carlee Hallman
