Most brides just have in-laws to worry about. Me? I have warring dragons, ticked-off demon lords, eternal damnation, and a mage who wants to challenge me for an otherworldly position I don’t even want. At least Jim, my doggie-demon, is always at my side. He’s never let me down—yet…

    wonderfully amusing romantic fantasy

Guardian Aisling Grey and her wyvern lover Drake Vireo have decided on a simple wedding. However, unknown relatives are coming out of the woodwork from even unheard of paranormal places demanding an invitation to the wedding of the year. As the numbers grow, even imps want to be there though one must be cautious in allowing that species anywhere near a gala unless food fights are on the agenda. As their wedding plans expand to the point they consider elopement, the hostilities between the green and the red dragons ignites into what looks like a heated war. Finally Fiat the blue dragon demands Drake back off as he has a prior claim on Aisling. Overwhelmed by it all, Aisling concludes she either remains single or she abducts Drake so that he can become her beloved spouse. ---- The fourth Aisling Grey romantic fantasy is a wonderfully amusing relationship drama with some YOU SLAY ME escapades. Fans of the series will enjoy the zany goings-on as the lead couple prepares for a wedding celebration that has completely gotten out of control especially on the supernatural plane. HOLY SMOKES, this is a laugh out loud tale that readers will appreciate while wondering elopement but to where, breaking up but they light each other¿s fire or I do while dragons war and Fiat heatedly objects. ---- Harriet Klausner

Not the best in the series.

    Review by Jen:
Holy Smokes is the fourth and final book following the life and love of Aisling Grey (although I understand she and Drake will be pretty prominent characters in Katie MacAlister's new Silver Dragons series). This is a series of books you have to read in order for them to make any sort of sense. So, here's the order: You Slay Me, Fire Me Up, Light My Fire.

In this installment, Aisling and Drake are finally getting married, but as the book opens, Drake isn't showing up for the ceremony. They do eventually make it to the altar, but nothing in Aisling's life is ever done easily.

I've been a big fan of this series since book one. They are full of humor and you can't help but just shake your head at all the trouble Aisling gets herself into (think Lucille Ball from "I Love Lucy"). But there was something about this book that fell a little short for me. Aisling seemed to whine more than usual (or perhaps it's only my memory since I read book three over a year ago). She didn't seem to be herself and I kept waiting for someone to slap some sense into her. Oh how I wish I could give this particular book a better review since I loved the previous ones. It did have a happy ending and left lots of questions unanswered that will hopefully be tackled in the new series.

This was the first Katie MacAlister book I ever read. While house sitting for a friend, I saw is lying on a chair and decided to give it a try. Even though it's the last book of the Aisling Grey series, I was hooked after the first chapter and went out and bought the three previous books. Now Katie's books are the first ones I look at whenever I enter a book store. This series contains a lot of world building, so I do recommend starting at the beginning. You'll never find these books lacking in endearing characters, humor, or romance.

Not ready for it to end...

Action, nonsense, magic, and sexy men...what more can you ask for? Aisling runs a mile a minute trying to have a wedding, get out of being "Damned", avoid getting herself killed by red dragon sept members, and return to being officially Drake's mate.

In addition to the normal comic relief, Jim, the demon in a Newfie's body ("Who am I? Where am I? Do I still have all my toes?"), Aisling's Uncle Damian also gives way to some great lines, such as when he sees Fiat (beginning of chapter 8):

The dark voice in her head can get a little distracting at times (which is probably more to illustrate how Aisling is distracted by it) and her Stepmother's rants annoy you as they should (anyone else have a member like that in their family?!).

I am sad to see the series end..

This is an enjoyable series. I thought it was funny. I recommend Katie MacAlister. Although, you have to read the first ones before you read this one.

Laugh, high jinx, and romance continues

Ms. Mac Alister follows up with a terrific 4th edition to her Guardian series. The characters continue to draw you in and entertain you. This book leaves you looking for more.

    sad that it's over

This book wraps up Aisling Grey's story - and I have to tell you- I stayed up all night to read it and was not disappointed. Though, she left tantalizing clues as to what her next stories from this realm could possibly be about - drake's brother or that gorgeous silver dragon healer Gabriel-divine specimens of dragonhood I must say. Also, I love the possible story of Fiat Blu and his uncle. Now, I wouldn't mind getting my hands on Fiat's uncle-oh la la in italian-he seems like....such a nice dragon and so considerate of his employees. In this book she has to deal with attempting to married and making sure her mom doesn't find out what's she's become or what Drake or Rene are. And let us not forget the ever entertaining Effrijim otherwise known as Jim. You know other than he is high maintence, he would drive me insane and he needs a slobber bib-i'd like to have one like him. The next best thing is to read about the chaos he causes Aisling, the trouble has been humerous. This book was a laugh and I must say I've loved all of them. And I honestly have to say that I have not regretted getting any of her Aisling Grey books or her other paranormal books for that matter.
