MOTHER, today there comes back to mind the vermilion mark at the parting of your hair, the __sari__ which you used to wear, with its wide red border, and those wonderful eyes of yours, full of depth and peace. They came at the start of my life's journey, like the first streak of dawn, giving me golden provision to carry me on my way.

The Home and the World by Rabindranath Tagore is a book that reveals the complications of the most sacred relationships. There are three central characters, Bimala, her husband Nikhil, and the activist, Bimala's lover, Sandip. The book is written from the perspective of all the three characters which helps the reader understand each of their obligations, morals and their goals. Over all this novel is a good novel. Readers may find the first half uneventful but as the story unfolds itself it gets more interesting.
