Lauren’s BFFs, BFs, former friends, and foes alike are hitching a sleigh ride to her hometown in Union, Connecticut…which also happens to be home to Sasha Silver, one of the best equestrians in Canterwood history.

Once there, Lauren, Sasha, and all their friends and frenemies find themselves one place they thought they’d never be: on the same team! Call it a truce or a Christmas miracle, but everyone gets in the holiday spirit to help heal retired racehorses—a cause they all believe in more than Santa himself.

Get ready to watch the reindeer fly! Lauren & Co. will be unwrapping more drama, joy, secrets, and, of course, competition than ever before. Whose stockings will be filled with candy cane lip gloss, and whose will be filled with coal?

Children's Literature - Claudia Mills
The horse-loving girls of Burkhart’s long-running “Canterwood Crest” series are home for Christmas. Rival equestrians Sasha Silver and Lauren Towers are both back from their elite boarding school to their shared hometown of Union, Connecticut, with all their closest girlfriends in tow (as well as a couple of boys to keep adolescent romance simmering). Both girls have organized Christmas break as an opportunity for the Canterwood students to volunteer at Safe Haven for Thoroughbreds, a rescue service for retired and/or injured racehorses. And both girls start off the visit with a huge surprise for their houseguests. In Chapter 5, Sasha breaks the big news to her friends that all the girls’ horses are here for the holiday as well! In Chapter 6, Lauren breaks the identical big news to her friends: “All of our horses are [here]!” In what follows, old rivalries are reconciled, much lip gloss is applied, and the girls work hard to help the rescued horses find new homes. As the story is told in alternating first-person narration by Sasha and Lauren, readers can see each girl through the other’s eyes: Lauren idolizes Sasha (who is a grade ahead of her in school) for her awesome riding skills, just as Sasha fears rising competition from her younger schoolmate. Readers new to the series will find it nearly impossible to sort out the complicated back stories of the different characters, but returning fans should love this satisfying series finale. And if it is all a bit too sweet? Hey, it’s Christmas. Reviewer: Claudia Mills, Ph.D. AGERANGE: Ages 10 to 14.

Home for Christmas

“OH, MON DIEU!” I SAID, laughing. “We’ll be there in five seconds!” I glanced behind me at my friends. Khloe Kinsella, Clare Bryant, Carina Johansson, and Lexa Reed grinned at me from the two rows of backseats in the Towers’s family SUV.

“There” was someplace my friends had never been.

Somewhere I was nervous to take them.

I shot a tight but excited smile to Mom, who was in the driver’s seat. I turned my gaze back to the front windshield. Mom flipped on the left blinker, and we made a familiar turn onto my street and started cruising past other houses in my neighborhood.

This is really happening, I thought. There’s no going back now—you’ve officially brought Canterwood home for Christmas.

My once-seedling of a dream was now reality. At first I’d thought of only inviting Carina, Canterwood’s Swedish foreign exchange student, home with me to Union so she wouldn’t be alone for the holiday. But my one-house-guest idea had exploded when I’d stumbled upon the parfait opportunity to invite all of my friends to come with me.

My BlackBerry vibrated on my lap. There was a BlackBerry message from Taylor Frost—my ex-boyfriend from home. He was a Canterwood student now too.

The guys & I just got 2 my house. U?

I wrote him back.

2 secs away from mine!

A warm blush crept over my cheeks when I thought about one of Taylor’s guests—my boyfriend, Drew Adams. He, Zack Reynolds, Garret van Camp, and Cole Harris—all from Canterwood—were en route to Taylor’s house.

I was glad that Union wasn’t a big town. My guy friends and Drew weren’t in walking distance, but I could reach Taylor’s house in five minutes via car. It felt so good to have everyone close for the holiday. All of my Canterwood friends had become more like family than I’d ever expected.

I clicked on Brielle Monaco’s name. She was one of my other Canterwood friends who lived in Union.

U almost home?

Brielle would have ridden with us, but space was tight, so her mom had picked her up. Bri and my other bestie from Union, Ana, would be joining my friends and me for the holiday. Ana attended my old school in Union—Yates Preparatory.

Couple of mins away! Sooo excited!

Me too! :D

“Huh?” I jerked out of my thoughts when I heard Khloe’s voice from the backseat.

“Is this your house?” Khloe asked.

I blinked twice and realized Mom had slowed the SUV in front of what was indeed our house. My mouth was dry—I had no idea what to say. Suddenly I was overwhelmed at having all of my friends here. I visualized having a cup of Peppermint Twist tea in front of the fireplace. Just thinking about tea calmed my nerves. I had to keep reminding myself that this Christmas wasn’t about us. We had some serious work to do. My nerves evaporated. I almost wanted to jump out of the Suburban and run up to my house.

“Welcome to my home!” I said.

The girls cheered from the backseat.

I was really impressed on this book. Jessica did a great job of writing it!!!!!!!!! I was pleased that it had both Lauren and Sasha telling the story not just Lauren like the last few books. I finished it in two days. I am very sad that this was the last book in the series. I am going to miss reading them. I recomended this series to 10 year old to a teenager because it has some drama stuff and relationships that everyone needs to learn. You have to read the whole series before you can read this book. Just for starters this was an amazing book! I have read the WHOLE Canterwood Crest series now, starting with probably my favorite book Take the Reins. The series started when Sasha Silver leaves her hometown and her local stable to come to the elite campus of Canterwood, then it escalates from there with plenty of drama, boys, and HORSES!!! Soon we have to say good-bye to Sasha & Co. and move on to Lauren & Crew. Then they all come together in this super special!!! I know i am rambling but i am getting to the point. This book has everything! I am not going to spoil anything but just trust me, this book is definitly worth your time and money ecspecially if you are a Canterwood lover, drama lover, and/or horse lover! This book has plenty of Christmas cheer and surprises from candy-cane lipgloss to volunteering at Safe Haven (you'll learn more about that later if you already don't know what it is). Even though I am really sad that this series (one of my personal favorites) has ended I think it was one of a kind. Hope you all enjoyed my quite long review and GET THIS BOOK NOW!!! You will not regret it! :) XOXO, From a long time CCA lover- Skylar Larson & C.F Majestic Highlight (my beautiful POLISH ARABIAN)

I really enjoyed this book! I have read the entire series and have found that I much prefer it when Sasha is narrating. So, when I read this last book, expecting it to be all about Lauren, I was super happy to find that it wasn't! I think that this might have been my fave book of the series! I <3 CCA!
