Verilux full spectrum lights are excellent for artists, craftspeople, and readers who need good lighting. This unobtrusive lamp sits nicely just about anywhere and lights up a fair size room. As a long time user of Verilux lamps I can say that some of the hype on the box should be taken with a grain of salt in that there is nothing magic or especially dangerous about the unit. It is just good full spectrum light, which means the color is true, not overly "warm" like that of incandescent lamps. Very good for working without eyestrain. This lamp is not expensive and it is easy to use.
interesting you would find this item in barnes and noble. great light for reading books. the full spectrum light brightens the room like sunshine and believe it or not , it does also brightens the mood. this light is great during winter and especially days when its really overcast cold dreary. my brother bought another unit via barnes and noble online store while i bought mine at the branch near the freedom tower.
This lamp is too bright for me to use as directed, i.e., on my desk. But it does have other uses. I knit, and on gray winter days with the artificial light in my home it's hard to see precise colors of yarn. This light shows colors accurately, which is invaluable for multi-color projects. Also, I look directly at the light with my eyes closed, as if it's a summer day and I'm in the hammock with the sun overhead. It's a little vacation in the middle of a freezing day.
