This is my very first purchase of this type. It is awesome, love the leather and the metal owl, looks incredible. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is because when I write in the book with a fountain pen, the liquid ink "spiders" into small lines on the paper. Looks bad. Book looks great though. Would make a fantastic gift, for yourself or another
The picture does not do this journal justice, it is beautiful. Looks like an old book, owl is sturdy, just wish there was a place holder attached to it. I love, love, love my new journal. Stop reading this and get it already!
This is a very high quality handmade item, I just love it.
I was so excited to recieve this journal as I have kept journals since I was little. However, I only gave it 4 stars because in the description it said that it had a silk bookmark, well, when I got mine, it did NOT have one which is a major thing for me. I like bookmarks like that so I dont loose my place or the bookmark itself. Otherwise, the journal is wonderfully made and just beautiful. I decided to keep it anyway and just deal with no bookmark. but still a disappointment when you expect something that should be there and its not.
I have a big family, including the adults in my house, which equals 18. Most of them are writers, and the little ones just love speaking their little minds out! When I saw this and it came, I fell in love with it!!! The sleek, pop-out owl head and leather makes it special, and we write in it on a mantel. We already have five volumes of this, and each day we read old and new entries. The pages are lined, which makes it easy to write, though you can't postion it very well. Awesome to glue in, and barely never gets any scarcthes! Erasers beware--this journal doesn't do good with marks!
At forty dollars it's not cheap, but you do get what you pay for and while it says it's made in Florence, Italy which is know for quality note books I might be skeptical of that however I can not deny the quality of this book. The texture and feel if it is that of precise quality and if you're going to record your thoughts then you should do so in an environment that is one of high standards. I don't buy cheap note books any more because I want to record my thoughts with quality recording materials because our thoughts become our words and our worlds become our belief, which then become our actions, which dictate the quality of our character that shapes our destiny and if you don't agree, then go to the dollar store...
