I took up Chinese Painting when I was in college and my professor said that Japanese Painting has the same discipline. I loved Chinese Painting. For the Ink Stones, you can find them in the China Towns (if you live in the US). Since the ink stones take forever to grind... our professor told us that a better substitute is to use water colors. They have the same consistency anyway. For the blank ink...just use Indian Ink or China Ink. I think they have it in schools supply stores over there. You can also buy the bamboo brushes in the China Towns. Or maybe they have it in the Art stores. For the paper, we used the news print since it can absorb the water color well like the chinese paper.
This is a great kit for anyone! I love mine to death, but I gave it 4 stars because after my materials are gone, I don't know how and where to refill them. If anyone know's where I may find some, please let me know! Thanks!
