When I came across this sketchbook, I had been actively searching for a product that would meet the standards of the work I use sketchbooks for. I wanted something average-sized, pages around 8.5x11", as little tooth (or texture) to the paper as possible, spiral bound, and with perforated pages if possible. I wanted the size so I could easily scan in sketches and drawings at home, the smooth pages I needed for my ink/graphite line-drawings and colored pencil work, the spiral binding makes it easier to keep the sketchbook open and also protects the pages from damage when opening and closing the book, and finally, perforated pages are just plain convenient. This sketchbook met all of my requirements, even the wishful-thinking perforation! I have continued to buy this particular book over the past three+ years and will continue to do so. I'm currently on my 4th book. On top of the things I was looking for, this sketchbook also has the advantages of having a plain but attractive cover (I usually decorate mine with stickers) which is also extremely sturdy and heavyweight. It's not the kind of thing you can slip in your back pocket, but I take mine around with me all kinds of places and though the cover may get roughed up, the pages inside are protected from virtually everything but moisture and spills. Although I highly recommend this sketchbook if you have similar preferences to me, it does have a couple annoying setbacks, though they do not dissuade me from continuing to purchase and use it. The main downfall is the binding. While the sketchbook lays flat and has other advantages thanks to the binding, the physical spiral itself is prone to warping and bending. Sometimes it's caused by outside forces, like banging it on the edge of a table, but often it's opening and closing the book that does it. The sketchbook likes to be closed a certain way and if you try to force it another way, it will resist and that's where the spiral's damage comes from. If it sounds like you're looking for a sketchbook similar to the one I described at the start of this review, I say go with this one. The advantages far outweigh the annoyances, especially since being aware of the temperamental aspects can allow you to avoid them altogether.

I myself do not have such a sketchbook as of yet... I have ordered one though. My sister got one and simply PRAISES it! The pages are of stunning quality and the binding is wide so that turning pages is no difficulty, but rather a luxiory! The plain simple design, compliments its phenomenal quality! If you are looking for an amazing sketchbook for an awesome price, look no further than this item!

Before I purchased this brand of sketchbook from B&N I was lost, artistically speaking. I was really going nowhere fast, artistically speaking. My creative juices had completely evaporated, artistically speaking. Everything that I tried to create, just seemed to turn out so wrong, artistically speaking. I was feeling that if I didn't get out of the rut that I was in, artistically speaking, I would be doomed to a life of failure, artistically speaking. The other artistic people in my life never wanted to go out with me because I was such a downer, artistically speaking because all that I would speak about was how my art was going in the complete opposite direction of where I thought that it should be going, artistically speaking. No body had any good advice, artistically speaking, that was seeming to help me, artistically speaking get out of the rut that I was in, artistically speaking. But then as I was feeling completely empty, artistically speaking, I found myself in a B&N in the artsy part of town and hoped that maybe that would help me get back on track in my empty life, artistically speaking. I picked up one of these sketch books and, artistically speaking, my life seemed to be taking a complete 180° turn, artistically speaking. I once again felt I was alive, artistically speaking and it was then that my creative juices began to flow once again, artistically speaking. It was like the tap in my artistic sink had been turned on full blast and the juices that were coming out of me, artistically speaking were flooding my entire being, artistically speaking with the best and most, artistically speaking ideas that I'd ever had, artistically speaking. It's so hard to explain how it felt, artistically speaking, to be alive once again (artistically speaking) and ready to let the ink flow from my body onto the paper artistically speaking. Now if I ever seem to be getting into a rut, artistically speaking, I just go to my local B&N and pick one of these up or order one online from B&N. Artistically speaking, these are the best sketch books that I think that any artistically inclined person could every purchase to help them get their juices flowing, artistically speaking. If you've never tried this brand before, you should. It may just lift you out of any problems that you are currently going through, artistically speaking. I would recommend these to any artistic human, friends, family, strangers on the bus, fellow coworkers, people at the club, any one that seems that they would enjoy sketching and that is, artistically speaking, in need of some paper to lay their talents down upon, artistically speaking.

This is one of my all time favorite sketchbooks. It's a hardcover, a decent size, has great quality paper, and is spiral bound so it can lay flat on a surfaces and you can fold it to focus on one page. I've been buying this sketchbook for years and it's hard to find one that compares to it. Every time it comes back in stock I try to get at least two because of this.  I highly recommend it.

Especially wire bound, and just the right size for my purposes. Was disappointed my neighborhood stoe is not carrying this size, so made my first online ppurchase

This Sketchbook has high quality bright-white, smooth, acid free paper. Which is good for pencils (color and graphite), pens/ink, and maybe charcoal, but the pages are not designed for painting. The three brushes on the front can be misleading without the proper description online or on the physical product, and the packaging in store prevents you from observing the paper properly. It’s excellent to design characters, fashion, and layouts for comic pages. The paper can take a fair amount of “punishment” before bending and creasing making it so much easier to work with and is so much stronger than most so called “drawing paper.” I do sometimes wish the pages weren’t such a bright-white. It can be a bit hard on the eyes under certain conditions. The binding is acceptable but could be sturdier, however, I’ve purchased 7 over the past year and they have served my needs extremely well. So long as the price and quality remain the same I’ll continue to choose this sketchbook above the rest.

I have gone through an unmentionable number of sketchbooks. From the $3 Walmart purchases to the $35 promises-to-be-dipped-in-gold specialty store buys... This is the first time I have returned for more. I am on book #4 & I don't EVER plan to stop until even eBay doesn't have them anymore. My media runs heavy on color pencils & inks & because of that, I needed a very smooth but slightly heavy paper. The less texture, the better. Also, I needed something that was easily transportable. Nothing too big or fragile. The spiral binding was another must. All in all, this is the perfect sketchbook for me! TBH, I think all of the low votes on here have to be someone playing a cruel joke! This book is sturdy, well made & very reasonably priced. I highly recommend it if you're looking for something like I described. (& to all those who have it, THESE ABSOLUTELY RULE, HUH?!?) P.S.- I even purchased the small version for my carry-on!
