About the Author

The author Julie Kelly is from a small working class community on the outskirts of Manchester.
Like many others born in the swinging 60's music dominated most of her early life. Life in the 60's & 70's was hard explains Julie because alongside the glamour of music was the infamous 3 day week and unemployment. Times were hard but she always felt a deep rooted need to care for others and to drag the underdog right back to the top.
This is probably what inspired her to become a social worker, a role she proudly maintained for around 20 years. Then in 2010 following the tragic murder of her partner, Julie had something of an epiphany. Knowing from painful experience that life is uncertain, and far too fragile to spend sitting at a computer for the next 20 years, she packed up and took herself off to India with no plan of when or indeed she would return. It was in India where Julie studied Tibetan Buddhist philosophy & the mind and also where she got her inspiration to write.
