I just read this book and it is great - lots of helpful information - My daughter picked it up after me and read it and now has decided this is what she wants to do as a career! Great reading thanks to the authors - its the first staging book I've read that actually promotes staging and not the author

I'm trying to sell my house in a buyer's market, meaning I have to have all my bases covered if I'm going to have a chance of selling any time soon. I asked 3 different realtor companies to calculate a selling price for me. After staging my house using this book, that selling price went up 10%. All the agents who have been through my home leave comments on how they have NO suggestions - they say the house is "perfect" in terms of showing potential buyers its best qualities. This book had several practical ideas and things to keep in mind that I hadn't thought of before. I already knew to declutter and keep things clean, but this book made me see my home the way a buyer does. The best advice in it for me was to highlight the permanent features of the house more so than my own personal decorating preferences. It told me how to direct a buyer's line of sight to the things in each room that would showcase a house feature that could be missed if furniture and decor weren't properly positioned. Aside from general tips, the book offered ideas room by room, including garages and basements. It told how to highlight good features while minimizing attention on areas not as positive or that fall into the "necessary" categories of home ownership (like mechanical equipment). While some statements were so basic I yawned, the majority of this book was very helpful at getting me to see how I could take the initiative as a seller in a down market.

I guess the title gives it away, but it doesn't take a dummy to stage but it takes a dummy to buy a book with info that is available on the web!...
