Library Journal
Carlo Brunini is an Italian bishop who wants to understand why Jesus loved the poor. He takes an 18-month sabbatical and moves to New York City to live among them and as one of them. His journey takes him into the home of Mexican immigrants and to Albany to live as a squatter. He eventually returns to Italy and becomes a cardinal. VERDICT Former priest and million-dollar author of the "Joshua" series Girzone's legions of elderly fans are reportedly dwindling. This latest novel should win him admirers for its upbeat tone and well-developed characters if librarians and booksellers are willing to hand it to a new generation of readers. Recommend it to fans of Lynne Hinton.
