Overview

HONEST MEDICINE introduces four lifesaving treatments that have been effectively treating--and in some cases curing--people for 25-90 years. However, for reasons of profitability (or lack thereof), these treatments have not been universally accepted. The treatments are: Low Dose Naltrexone for autoimmune diseases (e.g., multiple sclerosis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, etc.) HIV/AIDS and some cancers; the Ketogenic Diet, for pediatric epilepsy; intravenous alpha lipoic acid, for terminal liver disease and some cancers; and Silverlon, for non-healing wounds.

Editorial Reviews

Book Testimonials - Jeffrey Dach MD
Julia Schopick's book, Honest Medicine, focuses on four highly successful treatments ignored by mainstream medicine. The first is Silverlon, a silver impregnated mesh used to heal skin compromised by repeated surgeries and radiation treatments. The second is Alpha Lipoic Acid for chronic liver disease, the third is the Ketogenic Diet for seizure disorder, and the fourth is Low Dose Naltrexone. As a gifted medical writer, Julia brings each topic alive with the testimony of patients and doctors.
Book Testimonials - Virginia McCullough
This is not a dry text...Julia had produced a true book of the heart, born of painful experience as an advocate for her late husband, Tim Fisher, whose story is told in this book. Julia's struggles illuminate issues we face as individuals and as a society. The book does no less than raise challenging questions about the future of healthcare in this country and questions the over-reliance on big pharma and institutional medicine and research.
Book Testimonials - Mary A "Vine Voice" Reviewer
Patients around the world have a compassionate new advocate and voice:Julia Schopick. Julia Schopick is one of those rare people in this world who can go through an agonizingly difficult experience, and instead of being paralyzed, ends up transforming pain into a passionate, clear-headed campaign to help others. This is the story behind her new book, "Honest Medicine," which provides a rational, compelling and ultimately hopeful exploration of four life-saving but little-known medical treatments
Book Testimonials - Miriam Knight
Honest Medicine is a heroic work, bringing the meticulously documented story of four effective treatments to public awareness. It is such a sad commentary on the state of corporate medicine and healthcare that inexpensive treatments that can be lifesaving are suppressed because they will not generate enough revenue for their prescribers. Honest medicine is by no means a blanket condemnation of medical practice, but shows how it can fail patients and their families.
Book Testimonials - Jacqueline L. Young
At last, a book about proven successful medical treatments that are readily available to patients suffering from a host of major medical conditions. In Honest Medicine, Julia Schopick has provided us with a valuable resource. The treatments Julia features in Honest Medicine are virtually lifesaving and free from side effects--a winning combination. If only these non-toxic treatments were presented to them first, many would not be disabled from so-called "miracle drugs". Thank you, Julia.
