This family drama is an enjoyable tale

After burying her mother Edie Jo, attorney Meredith Briscoe decides to stay for a while with her grandmother Lilah in Rock Springs, Texas. Lilah is euphoric with her granddaughter staying on her Honey Grove Farm as she regrets spending no time with Meri when she was growing up in Brooklyn.

Lilah prays that she and her granddaughter develop a loving relationship while Meri prays she finally has a place she can call home with her grandma. When Lilah is injured, Meri vows to do what it takes to save her grandma's home. Caleb Burkett helps the two females while he conceals his ulterior motive; he wants Meri to remain in the Lone Star State at his side as he loves the newcomer and her feisty grandma, but wonders how he (and Lilah) will keep her on the farm after she seen New York?

This family drama is an enjoyable tale due to the various relationships including the connector of the late Edie Jo. Lilah and Meri are a delight as the regional and generational gaps seem wider than Texas. Readers will enjoy stopping in Rock Springs as in one corner is the battling Gran and the other is the battling granddaughter; while the late sandwich generation as a bias referee.

    Loveable Characters

I often keep a fiction book in my car to read while I wait to pick my sons up from school. I usually make myself keep the book in the car and only read then so that I don't distract from my own research and writing time. This book, however, didn't stay in the car long. I put my schedule aside and gave myself the day off to read it all the way through, and I'm not sorry. The characters are complex, and Meri and Lilah both are going through a learning process as they get to know themselves and each other. Most of all, the story is one of friendship and family and how those two things intersect. It's very well written.

I could not finish this book

I tried to like this book but I could not get into it nor could I finish it. I thought most of the characters were self-righteous and a bit self-centered and I could not bring myself to like them. I liked the character of Meri but I kept getting the feeling I was not supposed to like her as much as I did. Maybe, if I had read the entire book I would have started to enjoy it more and the characters would have developed and/or grown on me but I could not bring myself to finish the book.

    Can't wait!

I've been hearing so much about this book. I can't wait to get my copy. I've read all of her other books and I am so looking forward to this one.
From what I've been told, the story reminds me of how I met my sweet husband and that alone is enough to make me want to read it. But besides that, it's yet another book by Genell Dellin and for that fact, I simply can not pass it up.
