This is a whimsical and delightful read for any young girl who loves fantasy, fairies, candy, parties, and a bit of suspense. The cover of this appealing paperback is bright pink and it features a darling blond-haired fairy as she wings her way through clouds of colorful candy kisses and taffy. All seven party fairies from the other books in this Rainbow Magic series are shown on the back cover of this book, making young girls want to buy the whole series before they even read this story. But readers will not be disappointed. In this story Mrs. Twist discovers that all the candy in her shop is spoiled, and Mrs. Twist has no idea why. The chocolate is melting, the saltwater taffy is lumpy, and the gummy worms have turned into hissing snakes! Honey, the candy fairy, comes to the rescue with her fairy friends and once again Mrs. Twist is able to stock her shelves with delicious candies of every variety. The text in this story is simple and the descriptions of yummy chocolate cakes with intricate royal designs, glittery jellied candies, and shiny caramel apples will make young readers want to read more and more about this magical world of parties and fairies. Scattered throughout this paperback book are black and white illustrations that feature dancing fairies descending from castle towers, a delightful frog orchestra, and shelves of treats of every imaginable type. This light-hearted story about Honey will be read quickly by young readers who will then want to collect the whole series, and parents will be delighted because they will see the enthusiasm for reading that is generated by this charming story.
