Overview

Although she expected to honeymoon aboard a cruise ship, Allison finds herself sailing on a private yacht staffed by an incredibly beautiful couple. Believing her new husband wants to hide his older, less attractive wife, makes it difficult to enjoy the hedonistic delights offered in paradise.

"Honeymoon is a steamy and fun read. The premise is a clever and insightful twist about what's sexy. I really enjoyed the characters, the main character especially. The main character's mix of emotions--worrying about not being beautiful and then letting go into sexual fulfillment--creates great erotic tension. The author also has a real talent for writing delicious sexual encounters. Definitely 5 stars!" -Feminist Pornographer

Lewis thought it best to keep the wedding small and save our money for the honeymoon, since we both were marrying for the second time. At first, we couldn't agree on a destination. I had so many places on my hope-to-visit list. But Lew, who had traveled much more, insisted he wanted to spend the time enjoying me rather than exploring someplace I'd never seen. After much persuasion, I agreed to a Caribbean cruise. With all the last-minute details required for even a small wedding, I gratefully accepted Lew's offer to make the travel arrangements. His reluctance to share specifics perturbed me, but only a little.

The wedding turned into a rather one-sided affair. My parents, two brothers, sister-in-law, and several of my friends joined us and a judge in the Forest Preserve. Lew's parents live in South Dakota and couldn't make it. His best friend, he told me, couldn't return to the country on time. Apparently, Lew didn't invite anyone else. My older brother, Richard, stood up as Lew's best man.

I tried to forget the nagging feeling that Lew didn't want his partners, friends, and family to know he had married a divorced forty-something waitress with a useless degree in art history who lived in the proletarian suburb of Wheeling, Illinois. Instead, I looked forward to our trip. Although I had sailed on Lake Michigan with Lew, I had never ventured out on anything bigger than the dinner boats with their skyline views. My friends chipped in to buy me proper cruise wear as a wedding present. They all thought marrying a high-powered Chicago attorney and moving to a big house in Northbrook sounded like a fairy tale come true. But for me, I had to really think about getting marriedagain--unsure if I could love Lew enough to adjust to a lifestyle I'd never wanted.

We finally arrived on Tortola, after a long day of crowded airports, cramped airplane seats, and bad food. I really looked forward to some cruise ship pampering, but the taxi dropped us off at a marina in front of a sixty-five-foot yacht.

I turned to Lew, ready to cry. "I thought we were going on a cruise. I bought fancy dresses and everything." I bit my lip and swallowed so I wouldn't sound petulant. "I'd hoped to enjoy a massage in the spa, or at least soak in a hot tub, after this wretched day we've had." I had read all about the amenities of cruising and had planned to experience every one of them. I wondered if Lew feared I would embarrass him by using the wrong fork or dressing inappropriately for dinner.

He pulled me into his arms, and ran his fingers through my hair until my head found its resting place on his shoulder. "We are going on a cruise, sweetheart. And we'll go out for dinner on some of the islands so you'll get to wear your fancy dresses." He gave my hair a little tug, forcing me to look up into his amazing blue eyes. Short curly black hair and a square chin gave Lew the look of a movie star. I always wondered what he saw in me with my unmanageable, mousy brown hair, brown eyes, ordinary nose, and ridiculous number of freckles. "And, I promise, you'll be so pampered for the next week, you won't ever want to go home."

I didn't believe him, but I swallowed my tears.
