Overview

For fans of Jojo Moyes's New York Times bestseller Me Before You— an irresistible eBook-only novella and compelling prequel to her new novel, The Girl You Left Behind

At the heart of Jojo Moyes' heartbreaking new novel, The Girl You Left Behind, are two haunting love stories—that of Sophie and Édouard Lefèvre in France during the First World War, and, nearly a century later, Liv Halston and her husband David.

Honeymoon in Paris takes place several years before the events to come in The Girl You Left Behind when both couples have just married. Sophie is swept up in the glamour of Belle Époque Paris but discovers that loving a celebrated artist like Édouard Lefèvre brings undreamt of complications. Following in Sophie's footsteps a hundred years later, Liv, after a whirlwind romance, finds her Parisian honeymoon is not quite the romantic getaway she had been hoping for. . . .

This enchanting self-contained story will have you falling in love with both young brides, and with Paris then and now, and it is the perfect appetizer for the The Girl You Left Behind, a spellbinding story of love, devotion, and passion in the hardest of times.

Bonus: Includes a sneak peek from The Girl You Left Behind and Moyes’s previous novel, Me Before You.

This is so necessary to read BEFORE reading THE GIRL YOU LEFT BE

This is so necessary to read BEFORE reading THE GIRL YOU LEFT BEHIND. I felt more connected to the characters than I would have had I not read it.

Anyone who knows me knows I'm rarely at a loss for words but that's exactly how this story, which began in the prequel novella, has left me. Trying to put my thoughts/feelings/emotions into coherent sentences is quite a challenging task especially when the tears just.won't.stop. I read Jojo Moyes' ME BEFORE YOU and loved it, so when this one was recommended to me, I pounced and have come to the conclusion that I will read anything this woman writes!

Whether you are a fan of historical fiction or not, (I'm generally not) HONEYMOON IN PARIS and THE GIRL YOU LEFT BEHIND is a heart achingly gorgeous story of unwavering love and incredible sacrifice. It will pull you in, wrap itself around your heartstrings and refuse to let go until you have laughed, cried and hugged the ones you love just a little bit tighter.

Trust me when I tell you that YOU NEED THIS BOOK IN YOUR LIFE!

A short novella as a prequel before The Girl You Left Behind comes out was kind of exciting.  It was great to quickly meet the characters first and then to find them again in the full book.  To meet these two couples from two very different time periods, I was intrigued to find out how they would intersect in the full story.

I would say this is definitely worth picking up before reading the full book; its nice to get a quick glimpse of the characters before you start the novel.

I enjoyed this book but now reading the girl you left behind the two stories don't match?  In Honeymoon in Paris Liv and David see the painting in a gallery, in girl you left behind they find it in the contents of a evicted house. I can quite get past these inconsistencies. The author obviously changed tack with the stories but it was a bummer for me to realize while read. Hence the meh rating.

    Not for me,

I could not wrap around the whinning wives so I did not finish it. I was encouraged to try the author because a friend really enjoys reading her books. So I read Last Letter from your Lover. Great Book really, really enjoyed it so I will go on to the next You Before Me. I may go back to Honeymoon in Paris.

"Honeymoon in Paris" is a teaser / prequel to "The Girl You Left Behind," which will be released in August. It's a short novella -- only 75 pages -- but it still packs a punch.

If you're at all familiar with Jojo Moyes' writing, you won't be surprised to hear that this book packs in ALL THE FEELS. Like "Me Before You," "Honeymoon in Paris" is full of sweetness, heartfail, passion, and glorious happiness.

I CAN'T WAIT to read "The Girl You Left Behind" next month.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
