Children's Literature
This delightful book is written in rhymes that tell about feet and the things we can do with our feet. It begins with a cheer, "Let's hear it for feet! They can't be beat." In rhythmic language the story tells how "feet are twins," and then describes what feet can do, such as running races and dancing. Basic concepts, such as feet coming in twos with ten toes, provide a unique way for preschoolers to think about numbers. Simple, yet colorful illustrations depict activities (swimming at the beach, jumping rope, and walking a dog) that will interest young children. A fun part of the book shows what toes are good for, such as squishing mud or curling them in the sand. The ending is another cheer for feet. This comical chant about feet is lively and entertaining, and will appeal to all young children. 2005, Blue Apple Books, Ages 2 to 5.—Vicki Foote
