Through this collection of startling, remarkable images, his lens uncovers not just the magnitude of the problem, but also the places where God is undeniably present in the midst of it.

About the Author:Jeremy Cowart is a freelance photographer in Nashville, Tenn. He went to Africa in the summer of 2005 in conjunction with Blood:Water Mission and shot more than 5,000 images for this book.

Jena Lee is the executive director of Blood:Water Mission, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing the impact of the HIV/AIDS pandemic and promoting clean blood and clean water in Africa.
