Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Shalini Murthy
There's rarely a dull moment in Room 2B! Ants escape out of a vial thwarting an ant observation and a fish lies dead in the class fish tank. Everyone of course, suspects Harry whose "horribleness" is legendary. Is he the real culprit? In this short chapter book for younger readers Kline weaves a plot that is action packed and one that elementary school children will easily identify with and understand.
School Library Journal
Gr 1-3-- The title is one of the four stories in this book that continues the adventures of second-grade Horrible Harry, previously seen in Horrible Harry in Room 2B (1988) and Horrible Harry and the Green Slime (1989, both Viking) . Short chapter books for readers graduating from beginning readers are welcome, and this series has been an enjoyable addition. But Class 2B, scene of Harry's adventures, may be a bit confusing to newcomers at first, as Kline barely introduces her narrator and characters. Previous fans, however, will enjoy another meeting with Harry and pals in these lighthearted outings, although Harry's horribleness is not very convincing. The last story lacks any horridness or even much point, unless who you stand next to in a class picture really counts. Well-placed line drawings extend the humor with lively renditions of this familiar cast of characters. --Carol A. Edwards, East Central Regional Library, Cambridge, MN
