When I found a few of the 'Thoroughbred' books at a used bookstore, I'm glad I picked them up. For me, it was a great new horse series! I've only read the first book, but I enjoyed it. The story of 'A Horse Called wonder' centers on Ashleigh, whose family lives and works at Townsend Acres, a horse ranch. The family has been through a traumatic time and Ashleigh is still adjusting to her new life. A certain baby filly is in need of help, and Ashleigh needs something to fill the empty space in her heart. So immediately she latches on to the poor sick foal even though everyone warns her that she could be setting herself up for failure and left with a heart aching even more. The only thing lacking in this book is some good virtues. There were also a couple words in the book that could have been omitted. However, I did enjoy the story nonetheless.

I don't know how many times I have read this book while growing up. It was one of my favorites! The first 4 of this series with the story centering on Ashleigh were the best in my opinion. Joanna Campbell is a wonderful author and I read whatever she put out: A Horse of Her Own, Star of Shadowbrook Farm, The Forgotten Filly, Battlecry! Forever(very sad), and so on. Personally, I think she should have stuck with the Ashleigh character but her books are great. Definitely worth reading!

I loove this book because Ashleigh saves Wonder, stands up to Mr. Townsend and Mr. Maddock, and she gets to have Dominator! Definatley going to read the others.

I felt so sad for Ashleigh when she had to leave her other farm. I would have felt the same way. But she really needed to help Wonder. I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a great book, how Ashleigh's courage saved one little foal no one believed in. Now that doesn't come along very often! I would do the same. It'd be great if they made a television series about TB. Wouldn't that be great?

It is about a girl who lives on a horse ranch, and there is a weak filly born. She is so weak that she can¿t even drink her mothers milk. The girl (Ashleigh) tries her best to save the little filly (Wonder) and succeeds. Ashleigh later finds out that they have to sell Wonder because they are running out of money and is in dept. Ashleigh fights her way through to find someway to keep Wonder. The whole book was pretty interesting. I loved how I could relate with Ashleigh in the book. I kind of have been in her position before with horses. In the middle of the book it gets a little confusing, but I picked up right after that. This outstanding book is the first book in the series called The Thoroughbred series. If you have read the Heartland series by: Lauren Brooke then you would like this series. It relates to this a lot. If you enjoy horse racing or regular horse books then this book is for you! This book reminded me of a T.V. show called ¿Wildfire¿ , which is a very good T.V. series. I would totally recommend this book to someone who likes horse, adventure, and suspenseful books. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I plan on reading on the rest of the series.

Ashleigh and her family has just moved to Townsend Acres. After a diesse swept through the family's stables. Also Ashleigh had to leave the horse she loved. She swore she would never love a horse again. Until a sickly foal was born. That's when it turned Ashleigh's life around!

This is one of the best fiction books relating to horses that I have read in a long time. In my opinion, it ranks up there with The Black Stallion, National Velvet, and The Red Pony as a classic horse story. It is the first in a series of books written by Joanna Campbell called the Thoroughbred Series. This is the story of a girl named Ashleigh who moves to the illustrious racing farm known as Townsend Acres after her family's breeding farm, Egderdale, has to be sold due to a devastating illness that ravages the farm beyond repair. It is at Townsend Acres that Ashleigh witnesses the birth of Townsend Holly's last foal, Wonder. Throughout the book, Ashleigh and Wonder confront many challenges and together, they truly show the meaning of hard work and teamwork. I would recommend this book to any reader or horse lover as the mature views in this story are bound to appeal to more seasoned readers as well as the younger set.

I read horse series all the time! I thought there was no others. Then I found the Thoroughbred Series. I fell in love with this book series. I wish they would go on, and on forever. Seriously, my friends think I'm crazy. Well they're half right. I've read many other series. Normally I'm not a racing fan but this series has got me hooked.

I'm on book six of the thoroughbred seires, and I LOVE IT! I'm a little disapointed that Ashleigh isn't the main character anymore, and that Joanna Campbell stops writing the books at book 15, but I'm still going to read the rest! It is one of the best series I've read so far. I hope Wonder or Charlie dosn't die! Anyway, if you love this book (and the rest of the series) you'll love 'Blind Beauty' it's a touching horse book about a blind horse and yeah, I'll leave the rest to you D.

I first picked up this book when I was 10 years old. I'm now 21. I read up to about #13, and then life hit me. So I forgot about the series. When I turned 20, I was given Wonder's Champion (#21) for Christmas and was taken aback when I realized that she had written over 70 books for the series. I'm on #35 now, Dead Heat, and am glad that I have years of reading ahead of me. I realize that they are for a younger audience, but being that I'm an avid equestrian with horses of my own now, I love the world that it pulls me to when I sit down to read them. Keep it up. I hope you guys are still creating them when I have kids!

I love the TB series, I've read 1-12 and when I found out that Joanna wrote like 70 I knew I couldn't keep up with her! I adored A horse called Wonder and anyone who loves horses should read this, (If, of course you are willing to read over 100 books!) The series is so addicting but I can't keep up with the author! Someone please...are the rest of the books worth reading? If so I have to know! I don't know any other TB lovers so this is my only option. Please help me! Read this book though if you haven't, it is so touching and I love it!

i love thise book. it is a must read book. but i did think it a little harsh of ashleigh to say that she would never love horses agin. but if her familys breding farm didnt all die then she never would have had to move and she wouldnt have gotten to take care of wonder. then wonder would have died.then the thoroughbred series wood not exsist.
