Overview

Cherry Hill, America's most trusted equine expert, teams up with Richard Klimesh, a professional farrier and her frequent writing partner, to address the twin topics of hoof care and horseshoeing. Proper hoof care is one of the most important contributors to a horse's health and well-being. Without sound, well-maintained hooves, an otherwise healthy horse can become lethargic, grouchy, and sullen. With healthy hooves, a horse's noble personality shines.

Horse Hoof Care covers what every horse owner needs to know about this critical key to a horse's overall health and performance. Hill and Klimesh explain the anatomy of the hoof, the role of the farrier, and all the principles of good care and maintenance. They also address the ongoing debate on whether or not to shoe and how to proceed with either choice. From addressing gait problems to training a horse for shoeing, and from feeding a balanced diet to performing daily hoof checks, if it affects horse foot health, it's covered here.

As with many aspects of horse care, daily routines and consistent treatment can prevent future problems, but even with the best care, horses may develop foot ailments. Readers will find comprehensive coverage of lost shoes, hoof cracks, thrush, clubfoot, contracted heels, and many other common problems, along with advice on treatment. A complete chapter on issues that require a veterinarian tells readers exactly what to look for and how to proceed.

Horse Hoof Care is the fifth book in Cherry Hill's Horsekeeping Skills Library, dedicated to giving horse owners the information they need to care for horses in every situation.

    Velvetstar to Everyone :(

Hi guys. I have bad news. With the baby coming soon Im so busy and theres a lot going on. Im 15 now, and my crazy mother feels I need to be married before the baby is born. (You can get married before 18 if both parents agree and sign a contract of some sort.) So me and and a guy who works on our ranch whos also a close friend are getting married. Soon, before Im too fat to wear a dress lol. So I'll have a full life going on soon and will have even less time to rp, that means virtually none. I hate to abandon you all like this, just like previous leaders have, but please know that I'm under very extreme circumstances and I really have no choice. Please promise me you'll stay strong! Dont forget about cats like Spiritwhisper, or Skyleaf, Maplejay, or Servaljump. (If I didnt mention you dont takw it personally:) they are as much a part of Horseclan as everyone else. Windwing oviously will be leader. So dont anyone go trying to steal leadership position! Windwing, I love you very much! Your the one and only true mate I ever had. Thank you all for making rping such a fun thing!! I promise to come back and check up on yall like when I find out if its a boy or girl, and when he/she is born maybe i can post a pic on facebk. So make sure to leave a post up for me when you move camps so I can find you. Take care you guys, love you always!!!!! -Velvetstar- (Ill still be here for a little while but in the second result.)

I bound in, and come to a halt. "If there's a Windwing here, evil animals are preparing to kill you! You may already be aware of this, but I would suggest ignoring them. If you have trouble with evil animals or groups, contact me at 'efg' all results." I turn and pelt out, hoping to keep my features hidden.

    Windwing to All Urgent!

"Alright! This is final! We are moving to bonnie bryant! This is the last time we will move in a week unless we have to. This is our fourth move in four days so you better watch what you post. I will go to StarClan to get my lives sometime this week." He said, a sad face on his eyes. So he pads off to the new camp. ~Windwing
