Horse Sense

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
This is a great book about horses with much information, beautiful pictures, and nice coverage across the horse world. It has bold printed words that may be difficult or not regular vocabulary for most children. Everything is covered from "Who Is Your Horse," "You and Your Horse," "Animal Almanac," "Words to Know," "Where to Learn More," and the index. One could learn a great deal about horses all around the world including record-breakers and important horses. There is a tremendous amount of factual material that is presented in an interesting way. The problem is that the format of the book lends itself to younger children and so it might be overlooked by the upper elementary grades. With the help of a good library media specialist or teacher this problem will be solved. This book is part of the "Pet's Point of View" series. 2005, Compass Point Books, Ages 8 to 12.
