Overview

For centuries, the horse has served man and inspired his respect. Whether packing a load of new-found gold in California or gallantly leading the cavalry in battle at Waterloo, the horse has long been an essential partner in human endeavor.
In this coloring book, gifted animal illustrator John Green and writer Robert Stephen Kendal team up to create a marvelous pictorial history of the horse-the species Equus caballus. Now horse lovers can learn fascinating facts about horses-history, breeds, types and more, while they color exciting scenes of horses in the fields, racing, at shows and in battle.
Here are 42 detailed line drawings of stallions and mares from all over the world. Included are an exotic Arabian steed shown mounted by one of Napoleon's cuirassiers, and the familiar mustang roaming free on the western range. Informative captions provide accurate background and information on each breed. You'll also find a glossary to help you determine the proper color shades, patterns and combinations to use as you create your own impressions of this time-honored companion to man.

    You Can Tell

Good large pictures, accurate definitions. But the horses all look alike...from the fiery arabian to the Anglo Arab to the quarter horse! No dished head on the arab, the quarter horse looked like a pony, no BIG rear end...the drafters, and the other European horses looked ok. You could tell this author was definately NOT up on our western breeds! I had fun any way!
