Children's LiteratureWith the plethora of medical shows on television, children may think they already know what goes on in an emergency room. This book describes the many components that must work together to care for patients who find themselves in the ERfrom the paramedics who bring in emergency cases, to the medical technologists who process blood samples and run tests. Terms are defined as they are used, including a glossary that appears at the beginning of the text rather than at the end. Photographs of people at work in emergencies are liberally distributed throughout the book. Many of the patients are children, who all appear comfortable and contented. The book concludes with a section about preventing emergencies and being safe. Websites for further information, a glossary and an index also appear at the back. 2005, Crabtree, and Ages 8 to 12.
