Inside, she's fighting a desperate battle to save her son and escape the vicious cold of the PsyNet. Yet when escape comes, it leads not to safety, but to the lethal danger of a sniper's embrace.

DarkRiver sniper Dorian Christensen lost his sister to a Psy killer. Though he lacks the changeling ability to shift into animal form, his leopard lives within. And that leopard's rage at the brutal loss is a clawing darkness that hungers for vengeance. Falling for a Psy has never been on Dorian's agenda. But charged with protecting Ashaya and her son, he discovers that passion has a way of changing the rules.

is an excellent urban fantasy romance

The Psy Council orders scientist Ashaya Aleine to conduct research that she finds is an abomination. However she feels cornered with no options as the Council has abducted her son Keenan and she knows how nasty their torture can be.---------------- Ashaya assists the Changelings who rescue several kidnapped children. In return she pleads with the Changelings to liberate her child. Changeling sniper Dorian Christensen hates all Psy who he holds culpable for the murder of his sister. However, to his chagrin he and his inner leopard essence are attracted to Dorian. When she risks her life to defy the Council, he knows he must help her and her son although he expects to die in the effort.--------------- HOSTAGE TO PLEASURE, the fifth Psy-Changeling, is an excellent urban fantasy romance that stars two terrific lead antagonists who have reasons to distrust one another making love unwelcome. The story line is cleverly devised so that this exciting tale can be read by as a stand alone, but for saga fans adds depth to the overall ¿super¿ plot. The sub-genre audience will enjoy this entire wonderful series (see MINE TO POSSESS, SLAVE TO SENSATION, VISIONS OF HEAT and CARESSED BY ICE).------------------ Harriet Klausner

    Wow! A Keeper ...

This is such an original and detailed series, and with each installment the author reveals to us another aspect of the world she is building with such mastery. As a mystery and as a drama, this more than book delivers. Suspense? Yes. Humor? Definitely. Plot? Check? Characters? Check-check! Love story? Unforgettable. My only complaint is that the cover art may turn off a lot of people. These are very good novels, and their multi-faceted nature and will satisfy many needs in readers. I'd hate for potential readers to be turned away from such an original and precious gift of a series by the cheesy man-candy images. It actually took me a long while to take the leap and read the first book in the series because the cover pic was just too ridiculous. I'm glad I went against my instinct. Now, I mark down when these books are due to be released and I re-read them all the time. Brava, Ms. Singh!

    Another Great Read!!!

I have enjoyed each of Ms. Singh's books in this series. I was anxiously awaiting this installment. I really like her books because there is the all consuming romantic aspect of her plots along with some action. I do not like too much fighting and suspence. She gets the balance just right. You see the danger, but the intense scenes are resolved relatively quickly, as to not drag it out. I also like the protectiveness of the males and the lethal instincts of each. I am also THRILLED that she has a woman of color as the heroine for this tale (at least I assume she is a woman of color since her skin color is that of coffee with cream). I hope she keeps up the diversity and I look forward to her next book.

Gripping and Excellent I love this book because of the profound

    Gripping and Excellent
I love this book because of the profound acts of bravery on the part of the heroine and this amazing look at motherhood. The love story
between the emotionally awaken Psy genius doctor heroine and the brooding Changeling warrior hero is compelling. A reader can
completely understand why each would fall in love with the other. All the nuances of great world building and character development
are here. And there is so much love.

This book moves the overall plot of series forward in vital ways so I wouldn't read it out of order but It is worth getting caught up in this
series for this book and several others in this world that are simply excellent ways to spend your time.

A must read for all Changeling lovers!

Latent Changeling Dorian met Psy scientist Ashaya in 'Mine to Possess,' when she helped the Dark River pride rescue two human children from a Psy lab. Now Ashaya is calling in the favor to protect her son. Dorian finds himself drawn to her, despite the fact that he lost his sister to a Psy serial killer in 'Slave to Sensation.' However, Ashaya harbors darker secrets than any of the previous Dark River Psy mates. Dorian and Ashaya must fight to protect their families, old and new. With every book, Nalini Singh adds another layer to this incredibly rich universe. Ashaya is an intriguing enigma of a heroine and the supporting characters she brings with her are equally interesting. The Psy rebellion is heating up and things are only getting juicier by the minute. There are going to be a lot of impatient readers waiting for Mercy's book!

Good but dragged a bit in the middle. I liked Ashaya and the twist with her and Silence. I liked Dorian as a person but not his pillow-talk. The few scenes at the end with Mercy got me interested in the next book to see her story.
