Overview

Ben is the last unattached member of the five-man executive team of K&A Associates. The other four, all Masters, have found the submissives of their dreams. That's fine. The sharp-edged lawyer knows he's the most hardcore of them all, with extreme tastes as a Master he satisfies physically through experienced club submissives. He doesn't really need anything more.

Marcie has loved Ben since she was sixteen. He's never behaved as anything more than a protective big brother, a family friend. But now she's twenty-three and starting her career as a corporate investigator. She may be a blood-and-bone-deep submissive, but she won't hesitate to use her aggressive talents to prove she's meant to be his. With a Master as tough as Ben, she'll have to take whatever measures are needed-even if her deepest desire isn't a hostile takeover of his heart, but an unconditional surrender to it.

Joey W. Hill, and her Knights of the Board Room series in partic

Joey W. Hill, and her Knights of the Board Room series in particular, has been in my Mount TBR pile forever, so I jumped at the chance to review this book. I've heard great things about Ms. Hill's writing, and Hostile Takeover does not disappoint. No, my kinky friends, not at all. In fact, so far this is one of my favorite books of 2012. But a warning to the faint at heart.... Ben is a sadist, and this book contains some very intense and graphic scenes. Okay, so why did I like this book so much then?

I cracked up at parts of Marcie's plan to win Ben's heart, but had to crank up the A/C during other parts. And Ben shows his softer side throughout the book. He might be hardcore, but he's also charming, caring, and loyal. He's also a great cook and a good dancer. Oh, and there's this...

"She'd heard the rumors about his size, but if that was a partial erection, there were monsters in Japan who would run screaming."

    So, what's not to like?

I love, love, love the snippets of letters and conversations between Marcie and Ben that begin each chapter, showing their relationship during the years Marcie was in college. Ben is Marcie's confidante, advisor, and guardian. Some of the letters were just LOL funny, and others were so sweet I almost cried. This is one of my favorites:

"You told me any guy worth my time would always come to me with flowers and a handkerchief. One to make me smile, and the other to dry my tears, because a smart guy knows women need to cry as much as they need to laugh."

But Ben still sees Marcie as a girl, someone to protect... especially from his darker side. Ms. Hill does a fantabulous job of showing Ben's reluctance to accept Marcie as a sexually mature woman, and of showing Marcie's absolute certainty and determination that she and Ben are meant to be together. And their journey is one wild ride! If you don't have any qualms about the BDSM aspects of the book, this is a highly recommended read.

Yours always Hostile Takeover is in the Knights of the Boardroom

    Yours always
Hostile Takeover is in the Knights of the Boardroom Series. Although I had not read the other 4 books, Joey Hill gave me a very clear picture of each of the other characters and their history with the main charcters Ben and Marcie of this book. I am not new to the world of erotica/BDSM books, but I have to admit I had to look up a few things in this book that I had not ever heard of. JWH pushed my knowledge and limits of the world of BDSM

"To me, loving someone is living."

Ben is a high powered lawyer at Kennsington & Associates and has had a long standing relationship with Marcie for years, but where Ben thinks of himself as a "big brother" Marcie thinks of him as her future Master. Marcie has secretly been in love with Ben since she was 16 and has been working and teaching herself how to be a submissive/slave to Ben. She thinks she knows what HE needs and she thinks SHE is the one to give it to him. Ben, on the other hand, doesn't want or need any help from anyone and is very content with his life until Marcie waltzes in his office and shows him that sometimes the grass is greener on the other side. Through mentoring Marcie, Ben begins to fall for her and their relationship starts to blossom.

My very favorite part of this book - and I mean absolute favorite part was the interactions between Ben and Marcie at the beginning of each chapter. Anyone could tell from peeking into their emails, letters and phone calls that there was was something very special and tender between the two of them.

"You're going to have to help me learn how to love you."

I really liked Ben and Marcie and the sex/scenes in the this book where scorching hot. Ben gets aggressive with Marcie and is probably tougher on her than he should have been, but he wants her to really know what she is getting into, plus I think he is trying to drive her away. There is a scene in the book that teeters on battery, but it is deflected immediately.

All in all, I thought JWH did a great job in taking me on this journey of Ben and Marcie. They are definitley a couple I'd like to hear about in a few years!

If you like Joey W. Hill you will find this book a little slow but it is still interesting the "Knights of the Board Room" are as mouthwatering as ever. You find that Ben is more intense then you could have imagined.

    Romantic and erotic

I loved the characters and their undeniable chemistry. While there were moments that the BDSM were a bit intense for me, it still got me hot and bothered.

Great if you liked the others!

If you've been reading the Knights of the Boardroom series you'll like this one. Probably the most brutal in that she does push the pain to the nth degree, I'd still have to say I like the relationship building of all the characters in this series. The story stays with you after you've read it.

    Highly recommended

The last book and the last Knight, in the "Knights of the Boardroom" Series. This is the most intense emotionally of this series. Ben with a rough childhhod, has a lot of issues to overcome, before he can embrace a lasting permanent relatonship. Marcie, who has known Ben, since she was a teenager, is in love with him and has to prove to him that she is his one.
The BDSM aspect of this book is intense.

    Highly Recommend This Book

Hostile Takeover is the last book in the Knights of the Boardroom series and tells the story of Marcie Moira convincing Ben O'Callahan that her girlhood crush on him has grown into adult love. And let me tell you, convincing Ben of that takes quite a bit of effort!

This is another wonderful Joey W Hill novel. There were times when I was so angry at Ben, I could just have walked into the plot and slapped him for being stupid and yet my heart really broke for him because he had so much bad stuff that he had to work through (and actually by the end still has to work through but at least he ends up at a place where it is okay for him to accept Marcie's love). Marcie was amazing as a young woman who knew precisely who she wanted and didn't flinch from the demons that have been driving him for years. She really helps him exorcise the darkness that has isolated Ben from the others as everyone else found their matches.

I loved this book for the story it told about Ben and Marcie, but I also really enjoyed it because we got to see more of the other Knights and their wives, as well as other secondary characters from the other books. It was lovely seeing the interaction of Jon and Rachel; Dana and Peter; Cass and Lucas and Savannah and Matt, seeing the wives interact with each other and help support Marcie when she needed it most, seeing all the other men come together to help Ben work through his issues and find penance for his mistakes.

As an FYI, the book has strong BDSM elements but everything is unquestionably consensual.

This book is one of the most intense stories that I have read. B

This book is one of the most intense stories that I have read. Ben and Marice are exceptionally well-developed characters who share much more than D/s lifestyle. The writing style was remarkable. I wish other authors would take the time to develop the characters like this!

    Deserves more than 5 stars

I loved this book. The way Mrs. Hill showed the history between the main characters was great. It gave a lot of insight into the characters. It made me laugh and cry. I will definitly read more of Mrs. Hill's work.
