The Barnes & Noble Review
Make room for these sexy nightstalkers on your bedtime reading table. Authors Christine Feehan, Maggie Shayne, Emma Holly, and Angela Knight conjure up handsome shapeshifters, Carpathians, werewolves, and vampires in these four original stories. Feehan's tale, set in the jungle, features an animal activist who liberates more than just animals when she frees an all-but-forgotten human prisoner. Shayne's story, set in the bayou, stars a brilliant young professor whose fieldwork calls for very hands-on research. In Emma Holly's story, set in Vermont, a beautiful young baker gets more than yeast to rise when she gets to know the mysterious, pale-faced owner of the local B&B. And Angela Knight's heroine, a gutsy young cop, takes a dare to the max when she bets she can bed a vampire just a few times without risking conversion -- or her heart. Ginger Curwen
Publishers Weekly
Four gorgeous nighttime predators bid farewell to bachelorhood in this uneven quartet of sensual paranormal romances. Surprisingly, Feehan's "Dark Hunger," depicting the romance between an immortal Carpathian and a spirited shape-shifter, is the weakest of the lot. Feehan struggles with the short form; she tries to cram everything she would normally put in a novel multiple conflicts, a full cast of characters and an abundance of love scenes into a mere 100 pages, and the result is a frenetic tale lacking emotional intensity, plausibility and focus. The stories improve progressively, however, with Shayne delivering a tightly wrought werewolf romance in "Awaiting Moonrise" and Holly offering a sexy, shockingly kinky romance ("The Night Owl") between a vampire and a smalltown baker. The most inventive of the four is "Seduction's Gift." Knight imagines a magical world where Magi, immortal champions of humankind commonly referred to as "witches" and "vampires," wield their powers to save humanity from itself. These immortal champions include the legendary King Arthur, Guinevere and the hero of this tale, Lord Lancelot du Lac, assassin and High Court seducer. All the stories suffer to some degree from an overabundance of lust and sex and a dearth of emotional connection, but fans of the genre aren't likely to mind. (Sept.) Sexy as heck!

You wont regret reading this one. I'll keep this short and sweet. I enjoyed all stories in this anthology. I have not been able to say that before. Feehan does a great job with her Carpathians as always, but the ending was a little too abrupt. Being from Louisiana myself, I loved Shayne's rendition of "loup-garou" mixed with voodoo. Holly was not to be outdone by two very experienced writers. Her vampire, she calls an upyr was very hot and sexy. The hardest story to swallow was by Angela Knight. It is hard to wrap one's mind around the ideas that King Arthur is a vampire as well as the rest of his Knights. The idea of Morganna being a witch wasn't hard, but that she used her powers for the good of mankind was a bit much to swallow if you know the other tales of King Arthur. However, this was definitely a hot blooded, sexy as hell story. VAMPIRES, LYCANS, AND KING ARTHUR, OH MY!!! Great Book!!

    Dark Hunger is Carnal!

Man was this part of the Dark Series hot!
This is the first book in which the De La Cruz brothers will come into the picture. Being sent away from their homeland so long ago by Prince Vlad, the De La Cruz brothers lived in South America for decades, living alone and seperate from their people.
The book starts off with action as Juliette, a jaguar female, is working with her sister to break into a laboratory and save the animals within. But when Juliette enters, she finds that a man has been kept tortured and she works to save him and set him free.
Riordan De La Cruz is in a survival mode as he witnesses his lifemate coming to his rescue. He feeds on her savagely, needing the life she provides, and then they leave the enemy's holding. Riordan is ruthless in his attempt to keep Juliette with him and to make her love him, trust him.

I love this book. It is the first of these ruthless, law-onto-themselves De La Cruz brothers and Christine shows us how much more Carpathians there are out there in the world. This South America setting will get some steamy scenes from a jaguar female and a Carpathian male.

    A sizzling anthology

¿Dark Hunger¿ by Christine Feehan. Juliette rescues wild animals from a complex when she discovers a caged human. She rescues Riordan from captivity only to learn he is a Carpathian. He realizes that she is his lifemate, but they first must survive a blood eating malevolent monster. Though Riordan is from the Carpathian hunk factory, Juliette provides the freshness of WILD RAIN with her jaguar shapeshifting skills..................................... ¿Awaiting Moonrise¿ by Maggie Shayne. In the Bayou, zoologist Jenny searches for an undiscovered species expecting to learn the reason that many locals believe in werewolves. When an animal scratches her, Jenny visits Dr. LeRoque for treatment. They immediately fondle one another. However, he has a secret that if she learns her or her colleagues will certainly reveal and destroy his people. The lycanthropy is exciting and seems genuine, but the couple¿s sexual activity seems unreal.............................. THE NIGHT OWL by Emma Holly. In Vermont pastry chef Mariann likes her rustic life though she is concerned about the new owners of the Night Owl Bed and Breakfast that includes her bakery. New B&B owner French vampire Bastien realizes that Mariann is his lifemate, but fears rejection. This is a terrific vampire romance because of the uniqueness of the hero............................. ¿SEDUCTION'S GIFT¿ by Angela Knight. South Carolina Police Officer Grace Morgan refuses to become a Maja though she has the innate genetic make up to do so. The Majae feel she would make an excellent addition to their ¿knights of the round table¿ guardians of humanity. They send hunk Lancelot to convert her by inducing sexual orgasms. Vampires, erotica and Camelot, oh my!............................ These four paranormal erotic novellas live up to the title.............................. Harriet Klausner

    Hot Blooded

I originally picked up Hot Blooded anthology because of Christine Feehan's short story on the Carpathians,Dark Hunger but I was so pleasantly surprised with the other three stories and enjoyed them thoroughly.Awaiting Moonrise had a good and captivating plot centered in Louisiana bayou and a couple too hot to resist! The Night Owl was very intriguing because of the vampire/shape shifter combined to form one being effect. It was the best of both seductive worlds!!! The final story ,Seduction's Gift had a huge back story and vivid world of Majae and Majas, combine that with the knights of the round table and Arthurian legend characters and you get a reader ensnaring story, the back story of Grace and Lance was also very touching and added to the deepness of the relationship. All four stories impressed me so much and i thoroughly enjoyed them! All of them kept the romance alive but did not lose the sexy and sensual parts as well! Highly recommended for romantics!

    Worst book I've ever read

Do not buy this book. I bought Hot Blooded because I love Christine Feehan, but I was terribly disappointed. This is literally the worst book I've ever read.

    Fine Men, Good Fun

I originally bought this book to finish reading the Dark Series by Christine Feehan. However, this story was the least interesting of the group. My favorite story was the Night Owl by Emma Holly. Very interesting and very hot guys. Plus delicious food. What is not to like? Seduction's Gift was also interesting and made me want to read more about these persons/beings. The book achieved the purpose of introducing me to a group of authors. And I went to the library to read more.

    Scorching

These stories are HOT. If you don't like some of the blunt terms for sex, then stay away, this anthology isn't for you. Although I love Feehan and 'Dark Hunger' certainly delivers, the pleasant surprise for me was Angela Knight's story 'Seduction's Gift.' This story was SCORCHING. I had never read any of Knight's stories before and she's now an instant favorite. Lancelot did things to Grace that were not only tenderly seductive but bluntly carnal. Knight has a way of writing sex scenes that fairly burst into flames on the page. Her leading man is so seductive just a look from him is enough to leave burn marks. Her heroine, Grace, is also tough, smart, and sexy, just the type of woman that is likable without being a whiny damsel in distress. GREAT anthology overall.

    Very Sexy

This book deliver big time. The stories are exactly what the erotic reader wants to read. They are exciting with lots of variety to fulfill just about every fantasy. The only erotica I have enjoyed more is Nancy Madore's Bedtime Stories for Women, because the fantasies were geared more towards women while being just as sexual.

    a devoted paranormal reader

This book was totally hot and the only reason i did not give it 5 stars is because my sister took the book before I could read maggie shaynes story. The characters are so unique and interesting. I love the Emma Holly story the best because even though Bastien is hamdsome and powerful he is still unsure about approaching the woman he loves.
