She gave a little laugh. "How do you know I'm even qualified to work there? It might be my dream, but not my reality. Besides, they may not have a place for me."
Archer took a seat next to her, turning so he faced her. He rested his arm along the back of the couch. "They will."
"How can you be sure? You've never even seen my portfolio."
Archer lifted his hand and brushed her hair away from her face. "How do you know?"
Maybe he had seen her work. Gabriel may have shown Archer some of her paintings. It was a possibility. Even so, why did he wait until now to offer to set her up with his friend? She asked him as much.
He gave her a sensual smile. "Where would the fun in that be?"
She didn't understand his game. Really wasn't even sure she had the energy to play games anymore, but there was something teasing and fun, and yes, even dark about Archer. He intrigued as much as he frightened her. But not in a bad way. In an exciting, out-of-control kind of way.
A dark look passed over his face and then was gone before it settled there. Had he read the doubts in her eyes?
"I know you aren't ready for another relationship. Not while Gabriel's betrayal is still so fresh. But at least allow yourself to enjoy the physical pleasure of a man."
Sonia's face burned.
"Don't be embarrassed, sweetheart." He leaned forward until his mouth lingered close to hers. "We're both free. There's no shame in wanting each other."
And God in heaven how she wanted him right then.
