Meet the Author

John Ringo began writing for Baen in 2000 with his first release A Hymn Before Battle-the first novel in his Posleen Wars-which has become a New York Times best-selling series with over one million copies in print. The series continued with Gust Front, When the Devil Dances, Hell's Faire and Eye of the Storm. In addition, Ringo has penned the Council War series: There Will be Dragons, Emerald Sea, Against the Tide, and East of the Sun, West of the Moon. Adding another dimension to his skills, Ringo created nationally best-selling techno-thriller novels about Mike Harmon (Ghost, Kildar, Choosers of the Slain, Unto the Breach, and A Deeper Blue). His latest techno-thriller, The Last Centurion, was also a national best seller. A more playful twist on the future is found in novels of the Looking-Glass series: Into the Looking Glass, Vorpal Blade, Manxome Foe and Claws That Catch, the last three in collaboration with Travis S. Taylor. His audience was further enhanced with four collaborations with fellow New York Times best-selling author David Weber: March Upcountry, March to the Sea, March to the Stars and We Few. There are an additional five collaborative spinoffs from the Posleen series: The Hero, written with Michael Z. Williamson, Watch on the Rhine, Yellow Eyes and The Tuloriad, all written with Tom Kratman, and the New York Times best seller Cally's War and its sequels Sister Time and Honor of the Clan, both with Julie Cochrane. A veteran of the 82nd Airborne, he brings first-hand knowledge of military operations to his fiction.

The Publisher better get on board and start doing this series in Nookbook format. Otherwise I'm just gonna keep going to barnesandnoble stores and reading it in the store without buying it. Otherwise I have to say I love this series I am a Firefighter/paramedic and I like this authors views. He's compltetly off the shoulder like most of us and his style of writing is Awesome! I read his first book over 8hrs straight without setting it down. I loved sentinel and I am betting I will love Hot Gate as well. Just get it in Nookbook format so I can buy it and carry it with me everywhere thats all I ask.

This was a very enjoyable read. Although it was a lengthy book, it never dragged on before action took place. The author did a good job with the characters in drawing the reader into their situations and wanting to know what is going to happen next. my only disappointment was that there was not another sequel and I wanr the main character to have found someone to share his life with!.

If your are looking for a great sf series with action, some dramatics, battlefield humor, and with some good old human vs bad aliens can do sprit. You can't go wrong with this series.

In fact, of all the publishers out there this book's publisher, Baen, is probably the most eBook friendly one... You can buy a epub version from the publisher's eBook site for $6. You'll have to sideload it to you nook, but that's not a big deal. In fact, you could have gotten it months earlier for $15. You can also find many of older Baen titles available as eBooks for free on the CD-ROMs they often include in their hardbacks (often in the past the eBook versions of the hardback is there too). Though I'm disappointed that neither this book nor the new Starfire series book, Extremis, has a CD-ROM. There are a couple of places you can find on the net where the CD-ROM images are available...Note that posting those CD-ROM images is completly legal, Baen includes permission to do so.
