I wanted a light read but this was not it. This was a self-serving, narcissistic book that has no depth, no plot and no insight into what it claims - the real estate market. I'm not even finishing it because the characters who are clearly the Kleiers - are beyond shallow with their only interest being shoes, their looks and little else. Since it is based on them and written by them - are they thinking they are the "hot" properties? Not one of them is worth a second glance - just like this book. Seriously, I have never not finished a book in over 30 years... Thank you Kleiers for ruining my record, wasting my time and wasting my money. And by the way... how come your husband and father - is such a non-factor not only on the show - but in this bunch of papers you call a "novel". I feel sorry for him.
I have been reading two to three books a week for forty years or more, and have NEVER thrown a book away. Until now.
Not much plot. Take out the adjectives and there isn't a book.
Just finished reading the ARC of this book. What an indulgent mess! Rather than an insider's view of the RE industry, we have the fictional "Chase" family which is clearly the Kleier family (was there any doubt?) who i tell us how beautiful they look (mom is apparently an Elizabeth Taylor look-a-like) and inundate us with prose at the level of: "all the Chase women"..." or "the Chases have their favorite..." or even "in this enviably lucky, privileged life of hers." I can get more detail, better writing and more interesting plot lines reading The New York Post's Page Six! As we say in NYC...Oy!
If you love HGTV's SELLING NEW YORK, you will love this novel! It's a great read - gives you insight into real estate broker's lives and those who search for apartments in Manhattan.
if you are looking for a fun read with a glimpse into the high life... pick up this book!!! it is truly a breeze and a great book to read and relax. Well written, fun and funny! The Kleier's book does not dissapoint
