It’s make or break time…
Hot Zone, Book 5
Betrayal seems to follow Lucy Creed wherever she goes. With visions of her military-issue boyfriend kissing another woman dancing in her head, she stomps into a local bar, ready, willing and—hell, yeah—able to hook up for New Year’s Eve.
The first man who brings her inner wild thing to attention is one delicious hunk with “perfect one-night stand” stamped all over him. He also turns out to be the all-grown-up version of a young man she blew off in high school. And damn it, he’s the one thing she’s sworn off: military.
In Major Vic Moore’s mind, Lucy is the one that got away. Now that she’s popped up on his radar, the temptation to let their mutual desire burn is too intense to ignore. It also sends up red flags—he’s fresh from a relationship that almost ruined his career.
Yet their scorching chemistry is too strong to ignore, and Vic finds himself going all out to change her well-entrenched ideas about military men. But as their secrets spill out, the weight of the past may be too much for their fragile trust to bear.
Warning: This title contains a hot military man guaranteed to melt the ice around even the most frozen heart.

This was my first introduction to Denise Agnew's writing and having really enjoyed this book, it will not be the last one I pick up from this author. I found the pacing to be great, the characters endearing, and the story line fun. Lucy and Vic have a fantastic chemistry that had me flipping on the fan and reaching for an ice cool drink. If it weren't for school and kids, I would have finished this in one night. The hero and heroine totally pulled me in. You want a fun, hot, and fast read, then I highly recommend this!

Being cheated on and the inner turmoil created by the betrayal sets Lucy, our heroine, up for a one night stand. It also makes for a very long start to the story. Unfortunately, the beginning of this story is very slow and might put off some readers. The good news is, if you can push past the introduction and get to Vic and Lucy's first night together, the story picks up speed and interest.
About that time, we meet Lucy and Vic's friends and learn a little more about their backstories. This is a welcome change and brings a fresh tone to the story. Of course, there are scenes involving the "inner turmoil" of both Vic and Lucy. And, true to form, there is also a lovely little scene where they decide to be together.
The sex scenes are nice and spicy. The author is very descriptive and takes us from orgasm to orgasm without sounding repetitive. She also does a good job of describing a hero any of us would be happy to spend a little time fantasizing about.
While this is a short story, and the ending gives you your "romance story ending" tied up in a nice neat bow, it does not seem rushed. It's a nice little romance, and worth your time.
