I have been reading Suzanne Brockmann for almost 8 years and I have NEVER been disappointed. And this was no exception. I loved this book. I love the Troubleshooters, Inc. characters and Sam and Alyssa are definitely two of my favorites.
I enjoyed seeing into Gillman's head and hearing his story and just getting to know him. And I cannot wait to read about how things turn out between him and Jenn.
And although she has said that after the next book she will be taking a break from the TI books I cannot wait for the next book.

I have every one of Suzanne Brockman's "Trouble Shooter" series books. I have loved every one of them and can't wait for the next one. This book, however, seemed like she just coasted on the others in the series. Also, while her characters always have flaws (just like all people do) I thought that Dan Gilman was pretty much of a jerk. I didn't like this book anywhere near as much as I liked all her other books. I hope the next one will be up to her usual standards

After "Dark of Night" tied up so many plot lines in such a satisfactory way in the Troubleshooter's world, I was afraid Ms Brockmann might have come to the end of the series. Thank goodness it seems there will be many more stories to tell. "Hot Pursuit" kept me turning pages late into the night and got me up early the next morning to finish it. She brought back familiar and loved characters and introduced some new ones in a storyline that was much more straightforward thriller-mystery-romance than usual. A terrific lineup of truly creepy suspects kept me guessing to the end, and some hot new romantic angles - can't wait to see what happens with Izzy and Gilligan - keep the love lights burning. From personal preference I have to give a small markdown in writing style: I'm not a fan of the flashback story-within-a-story which appears frequently in her books, not real excited by overly graphic sex scenes, and I wish the overdone gay storyline was toned back some along with the graphic hetero heat (I realize this is an important personal issue for Ms Brockmann but this overt agenda often requires unbelievably contorted verbal acrobatics to be inserted into the storyline). Obviously none of that is enough to keep me from eagerly anticipating her next installment in this complex and riveting series. Bring it on!!

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged. In only her second week in office, New York Assemblywoman Maria Bonavita receives death threats including one note with a knife at the office stating the next one will be in your face. Maria's chief if staff Jennilyn LeMay complains to NYPD Detective Callahan who says there is not much they can do and suggests they upgrade private security. The Troubleshooters, Inc. is brought in to protect Maria.
Troubleshooters Alyssa Locke and her husband former Navy SEAL Sam Starrett arrive to keep the new Assembly woman safe. They are accompanied by their son Ash, and SEALS team members Dan Gillman and Izzy Zanella. However, none of the participants including FBI Agent Jules Cassidy quite understand the flexible diabolical serial killer known as the Dentist has decided to manipulate the scenario as he initially goes after Maria's campaign manager Savannah von Hopf, a friend of Alyssa. This brilliant psychopath adapts when his initial target rushes to San Diego to be with her injured spouse; his new target is Alyssa and he is extremely close by.
Ten books have past in this strong continuing saga since Sam and Alyssa starred in GONE TOO FAR; fans will rejoice catching up with what has happened since. Several subplots flow through the delightful exciting storyline focusing on changing relationships. Well written and fun to read, ironically fans know how close the villain is to his next prey while the heroes are in the dark. This is another winner from Suzanne Brockmann as the dentist will do to the audience what jaws did to ocean swimming.

As always her characters are completely rounded. Her characters seem like real people - troubled, messy, flawed and yet, you'll fall in love with all of them.

Jenn is a great character at first. Then she fizzles, starting when she isn't shocked or upset with Mick's comments about Alyssa. Danny is, as usual, a dog and a jerk. Worse, his romance strategy does't even fit with his character from previous books in the series, and that's unusual for Brockmann (like 'em or not, she's usually true to a character). Jenn, you could do so much better. But I must say, I love the ending.

Each of her books consists of multiple storylines, all of which are intertwined in the plot. This story is no different, this time you have ex FBI agent Alyssa Locke leading Troubleshooters, an elite group of former and current Navy SEAL's, their assignment is a simple one; protect a newly elected Assemblywoman from a "potential" threat. In the mean time Navy Seal Dan Gillman is asked to guard chief of staff Jenn. The intimacy is instant but Dan is hiding a medical problem. The situation quickly turns for the worst when the threat turns to murder. And the killer known as the dentist, is after none other then Alyssa Locke. Brockmann excels when it comes to the inner workings of the alpha males of Navy SEAL's . And there is no other ensemble I love, love more then Sam and Alyssa, they are the ultimate power couple. Gone Too Far, written in 2003, was their official story. In this one Sam is a former Navy SEAL, working at Troubleshooter under his wife, Alyssa Locke, now a mother of 10 month old (Ashton). Really? Where does she come up with this stuff, it's great! The stories are page turners, with nonstop action and humor to boot. I'm always on the edge of my seat, I never know what to expect. My recommendation is BUY IT !

I don't know how she keeps this series so original, exciting and sensual. I own the hard copies whenever possible as I am sure to reread them. I can't wait for another in this series. I feel like I know all the characters but she manages to expand on that knowledge and surprise. Never a dull moment.

I'm starting to think it's time to retire the Troubleshooters. It's getting a bit ridiculous now - I mean, bringing a baby on a mission? Hello? And for those of us who have a real SEAL in our lives, well, it's getting a little far afield here. The thrill is gone for me. Love her writing, have read all her books and hope that when she retires the TI series, she can come back with something new and exciting.

Love her FBI thrillers! Hot Pursuit did not disappoint.

The highlight of the romantic side of the story was Dan and Jennilynn. This was so realistic because I have been exactly there. Maybe it will work out for Dan and Jennilynn.
For some reason, I don't want Eden and Izzy to work out. Maybe that's because I want something better for Izzy. Eden is not strong enough to be married to a SEAL. Maybe she will grow up? Can't wait to find out! Maria's character intrigues me. Hope to see more of her. I couldn't put down this book at the end. Good suspense. Once again, strong female lead characters are Brockmann's trademark and I love that!

I loved the quickness, the clean writing, and the well blended interaction of the characters. The story held my interest, and kept me up from beginning to end. I plan to reread this book many times. It made me glad I bought it.
Excellent read. Merry Reader
All my favorite characters mixed into a great plot. I hope in the next novel Zanella finds his Eden. His character is such sweet, misunderstood guy. This was a great read.

Glad to see some of the characters "wrapping up" from previous books. Sorry to see there will only be one more in this series. Good, fast paced, great read as are all of Suzanne Brockmann's others in this series.

I have read every Troubleshooters books. The last one I was not so happy with but this one is wonderful. It did seem alittle weird that a counter terrorist group ahould be working a domestic crime in New York City but it all comes together. I still think Gilman is a jerk. Hope we see more of Zanella and Tony V (I'm curious). Keep them coming, can't wait for the next one.

Overview
As team leader of the popular personal security company Troubleshooters Inc., Alyssa Locke is no stranger to dealing with danger. Her next assignment, though, is supposed to be a breeze: teach self-defense techniques to an assemblywoman and her chief of staff after a political controversy generates a blizzard of hate mail—including death threats. But then, while in New York City, Alyssa and her squad of moonlighting Navy SEALs discover a dead body. And then another one. While investigating a suspect, Alyssa is ambushed and finds herself imprisoned by the deranged serial killer she’s been after for years: The Dentist. Cut off from everyone, Alyssa must call upon all of her strength and skill to survive this confrontation
