Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

"A House Interrupted, a story of extreme betrayal, moves beyond that to become a story of profound healing. Maurita’s marriage captures the essence of true forgiveness and hope, reminding us that some things only appear broken beyond repair."
—Melody Beattie, author of Codependent No More

"A House Interrupted courageously discusses, in frank detail, the day-to-day battle that recovery requires not just of the addict, but of those within the bonds of family and friendship. Maurita Corcoran provides an important new perspective in understanding a disease that society tries so hard to ignore."
—Sue William Silverman, author, Love Sick: One Woman’s Journey through Sexual Addiction

“Maurita Corcoran’s unforgettable book A House Interrupted is a must read for anyone affected by the devastating impact of sexual addiction. Filled with actual journal entries, this first-hand account is a can’t-put-it-down read about a wife’s devastating discovery that her physician husband is a sex addict. A House Interrupted is Ms. Corcoran’s honest, raw expression of the internal struggle she experienced during her early years of recovery. She ends her memoir with practical, realistic advice for all those seeking peace with themselves and their spouse. This is an absorbing memoir about forgiveness, resilience, and hope. With the growing public awareness of how pervasive sex addiction has become in our culture, this memoir answers the questions that spouses must face in building lives of self-respect and dignity.”
—Anne Holmes-President, National Association of Baby Boomer Women

I left my physician husband after finding out what he was. I could not bear him looking at me, touching me, nothing. We have one child. It's been 2 years since the divorce and I am still so angry and bitter. He blamed the awful marriage on me being "crazy" and "needing help" until I finally found evidence he couldn't make an excuse for and he confessed. He is in therapy now, but I haven't looked him in the eye since I found out. I am quite sure he is still "acting out" via his erractic and disorganized behavior. No woman will ever know this pain unless they have lived it. I will never be the same.

WOW - a gripping read! Raw and Powerful!

This is a very good book - just to get inside the head of a wife going thru the worst betrayal imaginable. Taken from her diary & journals, you are experiencing the pain right alongside Maurita. Surprising ending, his sex addiction isn't a dealbreaker for the marriage. They go thru it together, she understands who he truely is, and she still loves him. TRUE STORY.
