Overview

When Michael Graham Allen and Barry Stramp formed Coyote Oldman in 1985, they totally transformed the use of primitive flutes and panpipes. Through Stramp's innovative sound design, the mellow sounds of drones and overlapping flute melodies evoked both the vastness of space and the rocky confines of caverns. HOUSE MADE OF DAWN continues their subtle creativity. The tones, slightly sour and dissonant, set up a highly tactile environment. Native American flutes suggest sacred ceremony and ancestral voices while breathy winds sweep you on astral voyages. The music is subdued enough to use as background for massage or meditation, yet its sonic layers are deep enough to inspire serious soul searching.

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Heather Phares
Coyote Oldman's ninth album, House Made of Dawn, features more of their subtle, innovative blends of nature, technology and music. The group's many flutes weave in and out of nature recordings, electronic textures and other ancient instruments, creating the timeless feel that the duo always delivers.
