On House of Praise, Carman's first release of all-new material in five years, he writes and performs a variety of lively pop numbers designed to inspire and uplift. Opening with the infectious Caribbean-styled jam "Good to Me," segueing into a funky urban groove with "House of Praise," then slowing into the prayerful ballad "Just as I Am," Carman shows he's able to create music that touches the emotions. House of Praise is a decidedly joyful affair, and a supporting cheering section/background choir adds to the house party atmosphere. Is Carman cool? Maybe not, but following pop music trends isn't what he's about, anyway. What Carman does do is spread the gospel with foot-stomping, arm-waving, hand-clapping aplomb, and that's something to be praised indeed.

On September 9, 2003, veteran artist Carman released House of Praise, his first studio project in three years. The album reflects the style that has drawn listeners to his music over the last two decades. However, just as his musical approach has not changed significantly, neither has the purity of his message. As evidenced by the album's lyrics, Carman's focus on ministry has not diminished with time. Instead, it remains as strong and as unashamed as ever. As a whole, the project has a house-party feel. The inclusion of background vocals provides an interactive atmosphere, drawing the listener into the experience.
