When Housexy -- a Ministry of Sound offshoot -- say "Afterparty, they mean sensual, tribal, and nocturnal house music. This double-CD compilation is lightly mixed and well sequenced, with both discs starting slow and then building toward a floor-filling climax. The anthems show up about two-thirds of the way through on both discs but disc one has most of the highlights, with Gus Gus, Hardsoul featuring Fierce Ruling Diva, and Dave Spoon with Lisa Maffia providing a killer trilogy of tunes. The early days of Chicago house heavily influence disc one, while disc two revives the filter house sound with more polished tracks. Anyone looking for something squarely between Ministry of Sound's usual sparkling output and the deeper sound of labels like Global Underground will be very satisfied.
