Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Eleanor Heldrich
This ten inch square book with a padded cover tells the story of a small penguin named Pipkin who is always asking big questions. What he wants to know most of all is, "How big was a dinosaur?" The first four pages show Pipkin in a snowy setting being told by his Mama that to find the answer to his question he would have to go back in time to a warmer climate, and because this is a work of fiction Pipkin is instantly transported from ice and snow to tall ferns and dinosaurs. For the next fourteen pages Pipkin discovers ever-larger dinosaurs until he finally sees the very biggest one of all. A large envelope attached to the back cover holds a six foot poster designed to illustrate the size of the largest dinosaur ever discovered in comparison with some familiar things of today such as people, bicycles, cars, buses and a very tall apartment building.
