Who among us today is willing to stand up and fight to regain our communities and children? Great minds throughout history have tried to analyze and create a cure to the violence we see today in Americas inner cities. Author Steve Johnson with his latest book in stores Winter 2011 titled, “ How Did I Get Here? From a Kushite to a Thug.” aims to carry on that tradition. The book takes the reader to a journey back in time to the Ancient African Kushites and makes its way to todays modern day thug.

In the introduction of the book Mr. Johnson assures his readers that his consistent study of world history combined with the fact that he grew up in one of the worst crime field neighborhoods of Pittsburgh allowed him to analyze the thugism epidemic properly. The book mentions everything from the roots of poverty, to the pre-gang and gang bang era, to the lack of proper parental guidance and much more. It is a recommendation to anyone who truly wishes to get a different perspective on what Mr. Johnson believes is an epidemic called thugism.
